  1. The only person who is allowed to hold my dog on a lead is my mrs.. And that is just while I'm putting my Wellington boots on. As Mighty Celt says - there are to many things that could go wrong. I would hate to receive the call explaining that my dog has got a broken leg or worse has to be put to sleep!
  2. Where is the best place to buy these DVD's?
  3. Should be fine given time to mature. Just build the confidence for the time being with small jumps
  4. Welcome. Get him trained up to a good standard and you'd be able to provide a good service to your local shoot no doubt! That would really occupy his mind and would be rewarding for you All the best BBB
  5. My brothers malamute swallows everything whole. Had 2 whole pigs hearts whole last week and no problem. Caught a pheasant and ate that the day after ate everything. Wings, feathers, beak, feet everything! No problem. Would keep an eye on it but I'm sure that it will be fine
  6. How long does it take a dog to recover from the operation if adult? Anyone know?
  7. Tracer 150 is what I've got at the moment and my mate has just ordered the Lazerlight one. We are going to compare them both one day over the next week and i'll let you know the differences. My gut instinct is telling me that they will be almost identical in performance. We shall see though
  8. I spoke to Mike Brown about 6 months ago and he explained that all of his dogs have gone to Nigel Walbank (Rabbit Runner Whippets) I have been trying to get myself on the waiting list for a while but he doesn't seem to be breeding any at the moment
  9. Nighthunter has already had a litter earlier this year and apparently has another on the way before Xmas. I don't know much about him really other than his YouTube channel and I have never seen one of his dogs in the flesh but I do know that he's going to have another litter before Xmas because my mate has reserved one. he's got at least 3 bitches so it could be legit!

  14. Bruising will happen no doubt due to the nature of the hunt but for me I like the idea behind a dog that brings everything back to hand alive in order for it to be humanely dispatched. I know that there are others who don't value this - each to their own I suppose. I apologize if having high standards offends anybody
  15. It's nice to see that some people maintaining high standards. Personally I like to have the option to use the rabbit for the table rather than a poorly trained dog who will bruise the catch or even worse not retrieve it to hand. It beggars believe that people are willing to accept anything less than their lurcher retrieving live to hand and it is no wonder why gun dog people regard us lurchermen with such low esteem.
  16. Go with your gut I say but if you aren't sure then it would be a lucky dip. Even if you have gone with your gut its still the luck of the draw. I'm sure that whatever you pick you'll be good anyway because nurture not nature!
  17. Fair play bob84 mate. looks like you have it bang on there. My fiancé is a Vet and animal behaviorist - this is basically the positive method of getting your pup outside. By giving rewarding the behavior that you want (the dog being quiet) and ignoring the bad behavior is a good way to get the best out of your pup!when I first got her, I sat in the kennel (still do) to play etc , and all day I let the kennel door open for her to come to and from, occasionally shutting door (feeding time) let her cry n go to sleep for say 1hour? And before she has chance to wake up n panic I wake her and let he

  19. I walk my dog through cow, sheep and horse fields daily and he has a little sample of every poo that he finds. His favorite is cow pat. the fresher the better! He tends to just have a little lick off of the top before running over to the next one! It really doesn't bother me though - he's a Dog! Never seen him eat his own poo though or any dog poo for that matter but I wouldn't be concerned but I would have a look online to see what could be causing the dog to do it. Have a look at this website: You might get your answer! http://www.dogpoopdiet.com/why-dogs-eat-poop/ BBB
  20. Yeah that is pretty much what I was doing. Having a scan with the red, turning the lamp off and then using the white light to stun them. I was wondering if that was what other people did and it seemed like a logical method in all fairness.
