  1. I'll be doing some zeroing as well, no problem using 200 rounds per day :-)
  2. How do you guys transport holiday guns and ammo? I’m going on a weeks shoot about 300 miles from home so will need service station stops ect… I’m thinking of using my van vault 2. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Van-Vault-S10250-2/dp/B0082AM7CY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1461146026&sr=8-1&keywords=van+vaults The list of gear is: HW100: (none FAC) SxS 12G Shotgun: O/U 12g Shotgun: Semi-auto 12g Shotgun: .22lr Rifle: .17 hmr Rifle: 1000 12g cartridges: 1000 rounds .22lr ammo: 500 rounds .17 hmr ammo: I will be taking the bolts out of the rifles and forends off the sh
  3. Don't forget to send your EU propaganda leaflets to: FREEPOST Attn: Joanna George, Freepost RSBB-XRZT-ZTXE The Conservative Party Foundation 30 Millbank LONDON SW1P 4DP. Won't even cost the price of a stamp! As the leaflet is 4 double pages, tear them in half and send 8 letters!
  4. Some in my club never use either a rifle or shotgun on live quarry. Others, like myself enjoy Pigeon, Rabbit, Squirrel and Rat on their own permissions. Other also shoot Pheasant and some are Wildfowlers. I've never had any class differences! Without a club, how would UK shooters get to shoot .50 cal BMG?
  5. Its a bugger to keep! If you've a dog and it wees or poos, you'll need sanitising fluid. Pigeon poo sets like cement! Leaves and feathers stick like shit to a blanket! I look after a garden of astroturf, its about 60`x `, I got twice a month for 4 hours to keep it looking its best at a cost to my customer of £4000 per year!
  6. Not if you won't to keep small birds out (parasite infection and droppings) I use 1" x 1/2" welded mesh rolls 6' high.
  7. In today's paper as its back in the running.
  8. Its sound like the crumple zone built into the steering column is either totally shot, or the rubber has perished. I had the same trouble on a 1974 Vauxhall 2.3 Magnum Coupe` Unless the column has worn where it joins the steering rack?
  9. More trouble ahead. Can`t even add a lightbar to a 4x4 for off road use! The sooner we`er out of the EU the better! http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2199311/Millions-modified-classic-cars-banned-roads-meddling-European-Union-try-shake-MOT-rules.html
  10. I`ve a Webley Patriot .25 running @ 31 ft lbs with a 31g pellet. Very effective @ upto 50 yards on Rabbits!
  11. Mine was 21 cubic meters! So at that price £2100! I paid two builders with an electric cement mixer £800!
  12. I guess filling in a 28" deep hole, 20' x 13' was over kill for my garage them?
  13. They were shot early afternoon, around 2pm. I don't know what they were feeding on - I was shooting in and around an industrial unit. Full crop then? Like shooting armor! Head shot for Woodies (sub 12 ft lbs) or if a body shot, my trusty .22lr
  14. What time of day and what were they feeding on? If the crop was full and the bird was shot from the front then you'll get flyers! If the same gun had shot the same bird between the shoulder blades, I doubt you would have had a flyer!
  15. Great news! The first permission is always a great feeling!
  16. I've been back to the permission today, (Friday) and it's definitely 126 yards.
  17. Difficult! Cheap, but good in low light! As with a scope, cheapness won't give good low light performance. I use these: http://www.nikonsportoptics.com/en/nikon-products/product-archive/binoculars/premier-se-8x32.html You can pick up a second hand pair for around £300, I think I paid just under £500 so, as with a scope putting them in the low to mid price bracket.
  18. It's about time there was a government petition to debate the RSPCA losing the `Royal` warrant. Read the article, once again they overstep their reason for existing! http://www.dailymail.co.uk/debate/article-3514829/Why-charity-set-fight-animal-cruelty-cruel-itself.html
  19. Thanks! I forgot to mention, the shot was taken off of a brick wall. This gave for a very stable shooting platform. Also at that distance the rabbit was unaware, so stay put while I used my rangefinder and mil dot chart.
  20. If this will play, it's the secret door in the wall that was a shock! The land goes past the end of the wall and to the right and is twice the size!
  21. I haven't used kits for years, all my own homebrew.
  22. So...I pop to the new permission this afternoon for a B/H sunny shoot. As mentioned, 5 acres of garden, 2 Rabbits and one woodie later and the owner rings the mobile saying she can't hear my shotgun. I explained I was using a moderated .22lr as agreed and she said `you're welcome to shoot the pigeons with a shotgun` I said the garden was a little small, the reply `oh just pop through that gate in the wall.......oh my....several hundred acres of rabbit and pigeon infested farm land! `That's all mine and well`, she said `you're welcome to shoot anytime`!
  23. Since going to my clubs range I've grown more confident with using mil dot. This is due to at first being zeroed @ 60 yards and shooting 25 yards targets at the range, so having to use mil dot. Now I've zeroed to 25 yards and my average over 9 visits is 96/100. So now zeroed @ 25 yards I have no choice but to know my distance and use mil dot effectively when out in the field.
