  1. Some want everything straight away, I guess it the times we live in? I'm off there tomorrow (08:00) the forecast is -7'c!! It's boundarie is a few hundred feet from the Medway and the wind is coming from that direction, I guess it's time to leave the shorts at home!
  2. I'm hoping to sling my large camouflage net over the Jeep with the tailgate open, should make a good hide as I can park (rear) facing the flight paths.
  3. The farmer estimated 400 in one of the rapeseed fields this morning!
  4. The guy's brother owns the farm next door which is of a similar size so fingers crossed. The weather looks good for Tuesday so it will be me, some sandwiches and a good bag full of cartridges plus the .22lr just in case
  5. My first sizeable permission ;-) Just been to look at a new permission after a lucky encounter in my local pub. A guy I've seen before asked if I still shot and could I go and meet a farmer saturday (today). Popped down and he has 3 rapeseed fields and a large wheat field, both full of pigeon, rabbit, magpie and crow. Total area of just over 200 acres. I can shoot anytime with my shotgun, .22lr and .17 hmr, it's even ok to drive my 4x4 around the field! Ive gone from years with no permission to plenty since getting my FAC last year. From a total of 6 acres to 4 permissions spread over 3 sites
  6. also I never see a lot of lads who shoot take big numbers ..I couldn't think of anything nor boring than sitting there on a cold night waiting to pop a few bunny's of. . They might not take big numbers but they don't respect seasons either, they firing all year long. Seasons? What seasons?? Are you confusing the culling of animals such as Deer with the extermination of rabbits which most landowners request? There are no sessions with pigeon, rabbit of rats, they are shot all year round.
  7. All my permissions are in close proximity to livestock mostly horses, sheep. At one place, I shoot rats that are drinking from a pond....as are the farmers ducks and geese, I've never hit one and barely disturb the drinking livestock.
  8. It will be........the Browning t-bolt 16.5" varmint/target. I know it's a marmite moment, but having tried one I love the t-bolt. Yes, the 1517 Anschutz was an option, but as I have a 1417 (the .22lr version) I didn't want the same rifle in a different caliber. The Browning will be here in April. Looking at a new permission today so can't wait to use it in the field.
  9. Lads shooting them is a massive contributer to their decline, same as the fox population, getting slaughtered by men with their big guns and their bigger ego's.So it's acceptable to kill over a hundred a night with a lurcher, but not with a rifle? FFS get real they are all dead and it does not matter how. 10. I'm thinking of a Revo Premium Game 12g. My Sabatti has broken another firing pin and I don't think its worth the repair costs!
  11. Advertise for a local FAC holder to come and hunt / shoot. Might save the fox becoming distressed while trapped waiting for your FAC holder to turn up.
  12. Not a bird, but I remember my mum throwing a tin can in the air. She was amazed when I shot it with my catapult! I was about 10 or 11 at the time.
  13. Self employed, own my own maintenance company: Takes me to many great outdoor places. General farm work is great.
  14. Great achievement! Let hope it's the first of many!
  15. Lead, look around, I source mine for free! I brought a ladel and a set of these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BALL-LEAD-SINKER-MOULD-FISHING-WEIGHT-MOULDS-/330828892935?var=&hash=item4d06f04b07:m:mFNIGwaPNO9jZYmDOcUVy6g
  16. Good one! I must admit, I've run out of Snickers several times due to getting peckish!
  17. Spread on a brick, stops the buggers running off with it!
  18. Snicker Bar. It's all there, chocolate, peanuts, sugar/caramel. Everything ratty loves and easier to handle than honey!
  19. As far as I know, if you come across a Fox (with your FEO's permission) you can shoot it. If say a farmer call you to look for and if found shoot fox, it has to specify this as a condition on your FAC, no matter what the caliber. David, I'm confused here what you are saying, if you have the condition AOLQ you are perfectly entitled to legally shoot the fox, you do not need your FEO permission and you do not need Fox specifically listed on your FAC. Any Other Lawful Quarry means exactly what it says. What he said. There wouldn't be any point in AOLQ if it was limited. It

  21. They are (were) set to private and as with this group, a moderator vets posts and members. Do you know every one on this site before selling a firearm or giving your personal views? Do you take everyone on here as a personal friend? It's just another kick in the mouth from the anti gun brigade. What's to stop a campaign to stop all gun related forum groups from selling firearms? Once upon a time you could receive an air gun through the post or buy from a catalogue. Banning sales on FB could open the flood gates and have far reaching consequences.

  23. I`d still us this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/311384192462?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Use a 12" piece, it will last ages, just dry and reuse until it's worn out and a new bit`s needed! No worries about rust, just remove and wipe the mod down with an oily rag
  24. And it's only sub 12ft lb Air! If they did allow .22lr I bet they'd won't a safety course done, at a cost!
