  1. The sight of those jellied pies makes me  Never had one, never will. When I first moved here I had to get used to a lot of things ... between the puke green 'mushy' peas and the jellied pies, I did begin to wonder if I would ever eat again. Then I discovered the saintly bacon butty with brown sauce, and I never looked back
  2. this is what thought it could only mean... The thing is, i have never seen anyone with one... Shows you the sign is working then! :11: :11:
  3. I used to sit in my office on the 23rd floor of a tower watching Peregrine falcons catch and eat pigeons on the roofs of surrounding buildings. Might not seem like much to folks here but it was a big deal living in the heart of the city and getting to enjoy such a wild sight.
  4. I had a half-arsed attempt at doing a couple of rabbit skins once. Could've used them to knock somebody out. Rock hard they were
  5. Tell him not to fret... I'm sure he's a very nice man really... The twinkles on the gun really set the atmosphere ... well captured Muttle
  6. Jaysus he's massive If he was her pet, why does he now need to have a working home only?
  7. I opened this thread with my kids in the room. Let me tell you the look of complete and total confusion on their faces was priceless
  8. I'm not sure what you're suggesting ... are you saying that it's not a good idea to socialise amongst non-working dogs? If yours are picking up bad habits from other dogs wouldn't the solution be to manage them more carefully whilst still allowing the socialising? I think that dogs picking up bad habits is down to owner management, not the presence of other dogs. Mine walk with working and non-working dogs and I find I have to manage them differently, in different situations, depending on the dogs who are present - and it doesn't make much difference if those dogs are workers or not. I've
  9. I know a couple of folks who might be interested ... happy to ask around if you still need a hand? Can you tell me when it's meant to happen? I'd love to do it but, well ... I don't really think I'm good enough. Oh, and I don't drive

That's such a cute picture scent I'm with Dotty, boys are easier than girls. My son is six, my girls are 5 - there are 17 months between my son and the twins .... one of the girls in particular is a proper gobby little madam. Can't think where she gets it from They listen for the most part. I'm raising them on my own, and doing my best to teach them respect, ambition, and how to have a bit of fun. I make sure they eat well and sleep well and get plenty of time out and about in the countryside. I watched that Supernanny program yesterday and suddenly felt so much better about things
  16. I think that's a fine idea and a well thought out post too I proper struggled for a long time with things that were going on, and my dogs are pretty much what saw me through. My life has been vastly changed, and bettered, for their company. Best of luck in your search and in helping your Dad.

  22. I'm not tryin to start trouble but by the time that you got a lab based lurcher any good on our deer there would be about 1/32nd lab in it. Maybe different in other parts of the states but where I live, you best have a dog that can run cuz you aint gonna catch a damn thing without it. I assume its that way everywhere though. Dan I'm curious to know what you'd recommend to the OP? I don't think a lot of folks on here have experience of the terrain, and types of dogs used on it, in the US. Is there a type that feel would be useful for the work mentioned? 'Cause it seems a rather tall or
