Strange. I remember when working on Upper Heyford, certain peopleavingvirtual seizures about happenings on the dark side of the moon. Husbands were no longer heard of. It was really weird being on Red Alert with F1/11's screaming off base. Maybe I'm saying too much but by heck it was a fairly traumatic time. Makes you wonder about what is actually happening in the ether. Jok.

Rabid and Griff. Yes it was a good project for not much outlay. The downside is that the lovely one has ordered matching oak furniture which means that my original yew suite is out the window. Back to you Rabid. Don't know how far you are in but one piece solid slate is the way to go. I guarantee once it's down it's down. I reckon that's 100 kilos which took a bit of sorting. The stainless nosing really looks the business. Now onto the next problem. Got to work out some captive drop blinds for the bay window. How lovely life is. Jok.

Right then you lot. I'm currently dismantling (carefully) a shelter, made in cedar, 3 metres square. The structure sits on a decking base, is open at the front, closed at the rear and has boarded ballistrade half panels on each side. It has a pic he'd t/g felted roof which will have to be recovered. There is about 60 ft rubber encased armoured cable, a heater, light and control switches. It would be perfect for a hot tub or other outdoor application. As I write this I haven't a pic to post but will have later today. Question is. Anyone interested. I don't want to put it up on other sales sight

Yes Rabid. We looked at each other and I said yes or no. ? No going back. Out it all came and got on with it. Fortunately I had the lovely white oak in the workshop and life was easy. Biggest problem was the sheer weight of the slate bed. Results however speak for themselves. The lovely one is chuffed so we go on, and on, and on, and on. How do they dream these projects up? Jok

Terry. No mate definitely not. Thing is, other people, mainly family will not either. By the way, the Air Ambulance also get quite a bit of help from me. The guys love the produce and don't mind dipping in. What do you reckon on the black peas? Jok. -
At last the fireplace is complete. The snooker table slate in place on an oak Dias. A bit of bling as nosing and a really nice oak surround, finished in Danish oil. Not bad for a DIY job. Jok.

I sometimes wonder if you lot are on the same drug as me ffs. I can't seem to stay away from the garden even though I've a lovely garden set up at home. I sit down the allotment, listening and watching the wildlife, smelling the smells, drinking the atmosphere and of course the cider, listen to the silly banter and generally putting the world to rights. It's an idyllic place where you can either disappear into your shed or greenhouse and forget all the Worldly woes.(when deep sea diving that was my favourite mantra, when down there you are incapable of surface thought. All you could consider wa -

Beggars belief. Ffs. Nik. For crying out loud what are you thinking about. I truly am gobsmacked. How long does it take to load a spool? Sit on the throne for your daily and it would be done. What about tying a fly on the leader? Want someone to do that as well. You say you are busy as hell but the rest of us aren't exactly sitting about and manage quite well. You're going to be in a mess when you catch a fish and haven't the time to clean it LOL. Oh, and just as an aside, it needs cooking and eating. Hard times ahead I reckon. Just idle thoughts pal. Good luck in the garden. Jok. -

Tell you what lads and lassies. I'm enjoying the fruits of labour so much. I know we have all said this in former posts but it is just fantastic to be eating home grown vegetables, with so much taste and variety. Arran Pilot and Charlotte new potatoes, (knocking shit out of Jrsey Royals), fresh cabbage, peas, courgette, carrots, not to mention all the salad crop. I've grown a new variety of purple pea which is cropping very well. My garlic succomned to the rust but bulbs look and feel ok. The new (old) greenhouse is now up and running with the usual but in addition some aubergine plants. I've -
I'm watching you air gun , allotment, greenhouse, pizza oven and whatever next. Smoker might be a good thing to have with the oven. Lanark is certainly suiting you pal. Jok.

Dido. If I were you mate I'd net up. The bugger said will lay their eggs and your 8 plants will be decimated in minutes. One of the wor/t things to say in a garden is, I wish I had. Jok.
-
I can honestly say that there are red and Sika not more than 20 mins from my house. Jok.
-
Yes guys, as above. The cabbage white are starting to appear. If you think the woodies are your worst enemies then think again. That scaffold netting is doing some miles I imagine. Jok.

At the moment you are definitely in the right place. By heck there's been some beauties on here in the last 12 months or so. Jok.

Well son, you must live in a different part of the Midlands to me. We have the most beautiful countryside, plenty of wildlife, walks to die for, rivers to fish and generally a right nice place to reside. I'm talking the four counties borders, Staffs, Derbs, Warks and North West Leics. Ok might not be Devon but it is very nice. Jok.

Get on with it pal. Just as an aside. Do not burn the holly. To a wood lathe man it is, in the future, a very valuable wood. Also, any Sookers, (Scottish) long straight branches are well sought after. Jok. -

Nick. Found out the other day that the government don't allow farmers to clip their hedges till September. Load of bollocks but hey. I like my wildlife and don't think cutting a hedge bothers them much. I've still blackbirds, a robin and numerous finches visiting so get on it pal. Jok. -
Nice one Moxy. What a good start. Jok.
