  1. I kmow some people who had to self publish as the topic was too niche and not enough mainstream for publishers to consider. They both lost over £1,000 which is why it is termed 'Vanity Publishing'.
  2. Assuming the hypothetical highway worker knew about the value (if any), history of the big cat situation, etc, etc. I'm sure there would be some who were aware and would bag a trophy shot for personal bragging purposes, but deliberately breaching management rules that could lead to a sacking and the consequences of that? I'm in total agreement with the post about the credibility of some witnesses not being challenged or ignored by people with no personal experience of the bigger picture. I'm also sceptical about people like Minter making money out of this. Having some small experiences of
  3. Ecatamont. Those who claim there are no big cats loose are no different from those who claim unlikely high numbers.
  4. What is more worrying is that Campbell is still working with him which means Murdoch is still pulling the strings.
  5. Going back to the wolves around these parts, it seems that there have been confirmed sightings in two of the villages I've been through today while out mole trapping and in two places I'll be visiting tomorrow. These areas are about 100 miles apart. In one instance a dead wolf was found and identified by dna as having origins in the France / Italian Alps. There are photos of others verified as being wolves This was taken at the end of last year in the Haute-Vienne / Dordogne border around 100 miles south west of the dead wolf discovered. This was taken in the Chare
  6. I know what you mean about getting in quick. Its called the precursor when a dog sees, hears or scents something and there is a split second when you can get a command in. If you miss that oppertunity then the dog is less likely to respond. It boils my pee when you see someone walking towards you and their dog goes into and well beyond the precursor before they even think about a recall. The old saying of "It is easier to stop a horse from bolting than stop a bolting horse" springs to mind. And yes, some dogs aren't wired up right. My last two before this little terrorier were dreams to
  7. Opinions aren't a problem. Personal abuse is, and if people can't heed a pm asking them to refrain then what would you do?
  8. And Gospel is the new mCHULL. Posting under an alias ? As he has chosen to make this public let's have the whole story. He's had three goes at me now. Not banter. The first linked me to Jimmy Saville and the second the the Rotherham sex gangs. I tried to pm him but he was not set up to receive messages. Possibly a full inbox. So, I told him to wind his neck in. On the covid deleted thread he had another go, this time calling the Mods without any proof that any of us had pulled the thread for the reasons people had concluded. So, I sent him a pm that he obviously received and you ha
  9. I know that you are doing your best and I don't envy you.
  10. He's not banned. Never any intention of banning him. He's brough this into the public domain, not me.
  11. This is the first time I have taken any action. And I did it by pm, softly, softly, not officiously. I didn't start the drama, but you were in on it from the start.
  12. I think only a medical pro can explain that. Hope he's OK.
  13. Charts, the pm, as in private message, was headed with the thread title. If he thinks it is acceptable to call the Mods what he did and without a shred of evidence that a Mod had pulled the thread or why, then he needs to learn. If it had been a one off fair dos, but you know as well as me that he has been pushing the boundaries and will continue to do so. A pm ought to have been enough. But, sadly his reaction shows it not to be the case.
  14. That's why. And that was after previous advice to wind his neck in.
  15. Perhaps. But you do see people with dogs that are perfectly behaved and yet have one or more rogues amongst them. There is one near us who walks five off lead and one on lead. She wouldn't dare let it off or it would disappear into the horizon.
  16. I class dogs in three ways regards training. The first are those that want to please and will do anything not to displease you. The second are those that can be trained using rewards or just enhancing and harnassing their natural instincts. Then you have dogs that become so focused on a particular obsession that nothing can be used to replace it for training purposes. Terriers seem to fall into that group more than most breeds. Perhaps it is something to do with the genetics of their breeding.
  17. There are 2 species of mouse and 2 of rat. It is easier to be sure if you can see the whole animal. I think it is a wood mouse. If you look that up you will see that the ears are pretty distinctive. Assuming you've seen the other end of them before dropping them in the bin. ?
  18. When that is the case everybody gets to know about it. However, when it isn't the case everybody forgets or denies it.
  19. As Baker Boy has said; he asked for all his posts to be deleted. There are two ways to do that an one of them involves a mod going through thousands of posts deleting every one individually. The other option is to put the user down as spam and all their posts disappear along with any threads they started.
  20. Greedy little bu99er. I hope that you put it to good use as perch / chub bait? They used to knock the concave bottom out of wine bottles and use them as minnow traps in t'olden days. Good to see you embracing that new fangled feeder fishing Kev. You'll be looking at fixed spool reels next ?
  21. If it is a .22 air gun you have then you really are at the bottom of the pile when it comes to pest control. A farmer who has problems with pigeons, corvids or foxes will set someone on who can handle those pests. Have you thought about HFT? That could get you out and about with your rifle.
  22. I was thinking that earlier. <<Max v2.0 Sunderland Lite>> edition ?
  23. Agreed. There is no reason for the feet to be hidden in that scenario. It mirrors the stock image.
  24. Hi and welcome to the forum. The problem that you have is not unique. Contrary to what some people think there aren't a load of farmers sitting around waiting for pesties to come and offer their services. Permission in many areas is scarce and hard won. So naturally people won't be keen to share what they have. You will probably have to find your own. That means putting on some decent clothing, making sure the car is clean and leaving any dogs at home while you go knocking on some doors. Be prepared for a lot of knock backs. Best places to enquire are where there are evidence of roa
