  1. I'm kidding myself with the "going off grid" idea. Unforeseen (well, something that I never factored in but probably should have) family commitments dictate that it cannot happen. But a move will, just needs to be within reasonable distance of where my family reside. No great hardship as there are beautiful places within that "bubble". Spotted a likely property today on an estate agent website. In an area that I have always liked and still have an open invite on a friend's permission not too far away from the property location, just mostly sniping rabbits with an air rifle these days.

There's a joke in there somewhere... I'd rather read War and Peace than...? Sorry TOMO, no offence intended.

FAO Mackem. This is a good read. More the rise than the fall. Good honest research IMO. Interesting report on charge of the Light Brigade, a comedy of errors (apart from lads getting slaughtered) that could almost have resulted in a famous victory. Saul David used to put out some good historical TV documentaries but haven't seen anything from him for quite awhile. Possibly because he is male and tries to educate and entertain with facts. To get an historical documentary on TV these days it would appear that you need to be a woman with theories that all that we have been led to believe pr
  4. As you wrote when the stars align, if she had no been the runt of the litter you would not be feeling the loss but would also not have enjoyed owning and working her. That's life.
  5. I have always tried to swerve politics as it does my head in and very rarely knocks at my door. I have never gained or lost because of which political party happens to be in power. The gains, losses or just going along nicely has always been entirely down to myself. Cannot quite escape it at the moment though how ever much I try. These "pledges" that the various desperate to be in power, or retain power maggots are "pledging" if they are in power? If they have good ideas and genuine plans to solve the present problems in the UK, if they do not get voted in or re-elected, are they going to keep
  6. They can play in the wrong colours and wear gay armbands under control of the 5th columnists who make the decisions but I think the lads have enough inside themselves to do it... if we get out of the group stage. And that is the part the manager may f**k us up on.
  7. The best laid plans of mice and men... you never know what can be just around the corner. Dogs have always been a lamp (LIGHT) fuel refill rather than a drain to me.
  8. Just part of growing up possibly? When I 1st got a place to kennel dogs I went a bit mad for a few years. Like a kid in a sweet shop. Took a while for the penny to drop.
  9. A worryingly professional job by Serbia today. Letting Sweden play and then taking their chances. If Southgate pisses about with a cautious game they will beat us. Let's hope he shows some balls with the array of game winning talent that is available to him.
  10. He needs to go back to Villa.
  11. Regarding Grealish, good call from Southgate but a shame. Is it going to be another example of a possible world class British or Irish player failing to live up to his potential? But he's a grown man and hopefully his "advisers" are not ripping him off with the millions that he is earning. Ousted out by Anthony Gordon? Without wanting to tempt fate I can see Euro 2024 being to Gordon what 1990 World Cup was to Gazza, but hopefully without the self imploding. Being at Newcastle he has the right manager to protect him from that at the moment. Not that I am biased.
  12. I used to often get Jehovah's knocking on my door assuming that I am an ignorant heathen who has never read the Bible but they have not called for quite a while now. The last time I could not have been more hospitable. Invited them in, sat them down, poured them a whisky. They didn't touch the whiskey, rude! (admittedly nasty scotch received as a thank you for doing a job for someone but still) As they were explaining all about Jesus I searched through the dodgy box for something to play in the background and eventually found some soft porn. Korean I think, may have been Japanese, but some bon
  13. I'm a Geordie not a Mackem, and my Jack Russells are/were extremely well bred.
  14. Let the dog see the rabbit, or the fish. Job done.
  15. Even worse, when on my own I would use a Jack Russell to take them (hand guns were legal to own at the time but I didn't have a FAC, just a dog licence)
  16. To be fair some still go there, the dogs now replaced by grand kids. Keeping the old British/Irish traditions going. I'm not knocking it.
  17. Thanks Mackem, at least I wasn't imagining it. Sure we still used to sell in the club though
  18. We often ventured up there and even ended up with some nice permission. It may seem odd given the location, and I may be getting confused, but seem to remember it was good for a salmon run leading up to Christmas in small streams and we would shoot them with a .22 Ruger pistol.
  19. A few lads I used to know would make the pilgrimage every year. Load the lurchers and/or Bedlingtons into the pick up towing the caravan and after signing on would send their family holidays there. One of the few times a year that the dogs got out of kennels and the caravans moved out of the street.
  20. Never knew Frank Zappa was into his dogs. Good man!
  21. I've just managed to watch the video and of course the 24" barrel thing is mentioned in the comments. Doh!
  22. Be careful with this. Unless the law has changed if the barrel is shorter than 24" then a FAC required. The vintage foreign garden guns that we used to play around with were small carbine sized things. Haven't watched the video so my comment may be irrelevant.
  23. Champion's League final next. Joselu to complete the Roy of the Rovers craic.. go on son!
  24. The blacked underleaver and trigger guard makes the rifle even more reminiscent of a MK2 BSA Airsporter S, the prettiest air rifle ever produced in my opinion. I do not like the silencer. My Pro Sport is quiet enough in factory spec and the clean shrouded bull barrel is more aesthetically pleasing, but again just my opinion. A lovely quality individualised rifle you have there.
