  1. the issue to me is finding a good deerhound these days, and by good I mean good not ok.
  2. I don't doubt for one minuet that these would be fine, I don't think even more sight hound would be to much of an issue after all the lurcher is the most versatile of dogs. and its just about training.
  3. last lurcher show I went to I was a judge, and had a right good day tbh, as you say you get all the pro's both showing and racing, but to tell the truth as soon as the dogs are in the ring I have pretty much picked the winner, then you got to go through the motions, I cant believe how serious some folk are about a pound rosette lol.
  4. i like other one in the bottom pic, and was wondering what if any impact that little bit of greyhound would have, if one were to be used for sheep.
  5. hidden in a yuka plant, wrens have also used this spot in the past.
  6. not a peep from anywhere mate, little black and tan bitch looked like a pure, and it was on the fen behind my house so somebody had her away no doubt.
  7. it was mate very strange when they go without a trace same thing happened to me about 20 years back.
  8. I saw pearl run a few times good little bitch.
  9. not a dumb question, I am not into these types either, but if you want a dog to do the job, you breed best to best regardless of breeding.
  10. some of the coursing dogs from the north west years ago looked like they had hound in, ran like it an all lol.
  11. not rely but I am a skinflint lol. and my swallows rocked up yesterday so all good there.
  12. only going on what was said on the tv no idea personally.
  13. try opinions on the Norfolk lurcher its on page 4 bit about mick on there.
  14. I would like a few thoughts on cameras I have never been a serious photographer and just use a Fuji finepix s bridge camera, and was wondering about up grading to a dslr, I am a tight arse so price matters, any thoughts on cameras' lenses' etc would be great, oh and I am not all that techy either, and does any one know where I might get some 35mm films processed at a fair price as I have quite a few films that I now have no idea whats on them , so be interesting to see cheers.
  15. as i said before I used to get 10,000 froggys a year and our chap was a bit top end but I never had one problem with them so I stuck with it, price is all relative, I have tried to save money before and you get that do you think we cant afford it look, and then they try to skimp on beaters, you cant win, so just do your best mate, a big syndicate shoot round here jacked in a few years ago over a crop damage claim, witch if they paid it was a couple of hundred quid each, but they said f**k him he can afford it, but the land owner got to know lol game over, and they were all rich men but lost it
  16. I have been stuck at home after a shoulder op, so cant speak for anywhere else, but my swallows are not here yet, I normally se one by about 6th ish.
  17. most litters are bred for either money or sentiment, and owners of top proven studs should be more picky about what there dogs go to.
  18. good post benny, I hate these kind of threads because any practical answer always comes across negative, the bitch the chap wants to breed from may be a good honest bitch, and crossing her to a coursing dog who is a proven producer may produce what he wants, if what he wants is a better more well rounded lurcher, but if what he rely wants is a coursing dog then he should buy one, what people often mistakenly think in my view any way, is that by crossing to a certain type it will iron out faults the bitch has, it wont, if a bitch lacks what you want don't use it, buy in.
  19. do you mean his stopper pads, I have had them ripped to shreds when they run prey on a hard surface farm tracks old tips etc, if he keeps doing it wrap them up, but avoid running on hard surface is best.
  20. an old rhyme, the cuckoo comes in april it sings its song in may it sings another one in june and then it fly's away.
  21. clever man old plummer, but a bull shitter all the same.
  22. plummer used to name people and their dogs in books and articles as though they were top blokes, when in reality they just ordinary twats like every one else lol.
  23. when you read articles from old cmw the writing style was quite funny rely, you get the impression they took themselves very seriously.
