  1. Definately good advice there. I would roast in a hot oven until just cooked, times are dependent on oven and size, shape of joint. You are very lucky, this is my favourite part of a deer, I am salivating just typing here.. In fact i am going to have a rumage in the freezer..see what i can find.. Matt my favourite bit too!!never any in our freezer,it always gets eaten before it has chance to be frozen!!
  2. Hunting on at night, dangergirlll..... They are known as 3 fields away saluki.... A good number of them hunt on in the day as well, luckily i give my the right training, and in day light hours she returns... my saluki x won't hunt up as in look for new prey but will course the original prey long after it should have "given up" and the lamp is off. a bad point or good one? once, pre ban we had to look for this dog afterb a course and found him a fair way away. stood with the roe he had pulled!he also has a habit of coming back with bunnies that we thought he'd missed and turned lamp off for
  3. you can remove it with your bare hands if you get it right.i've never used any tools apart from a knife to take them off!
  4. thought you got the dog for nothing?well, you did in your post in this forum on the 4th....
  5. no reason why they can't be kept indoors and i imagine they'd make decent in house dogs. a few mates have them indoors with no problems. i personally prefer them outside.
  6. are you talking about parallax(sp?) adjustment or the mag settings? i presume px. that's what it's there for i'm afraid. to read the range. focus it and read the range off(i never could be ar*ed doing it tbh!)just out of curiosity, what power is your rifle doing?
  7. my saluki, grey x bull, grey was 10 month before he showed the slightest bit of interest in anything! even lamped clapped bunnies 3 yrds from him were just looked at!lol.but then he just clicked one day and that was that!
  8. well,i've got one(admittadly only a quarter saluki)and he's my first experience with them. good points are... good feet, good drive, unbeleivable stamina and speed.very unaggresive to other dogs. bad points are...very slow to start! very timid with people(as a pup,not too bad now)also sometimes runs on too far when a course should be over!it's mot hunting up ,ts not knowing when to give up!lol(ianb has obviously never seen a decent one run!just read his posts and i think a 3 legged dog will run further than he will on here!!)

  14. feel for ya mater, thought we'd lost my dog last night after he coursed something out of sight.was a good half hour before he was back. it sickened me,thinking that might be it!!hope you get him back asap.
  15. a few pics of my bull,grey x sal,grey. brilliant breed,got everything i need.
  16. my dog pens face my back door and as soon as i put my wax jacket on or so much as touch a collar(no matter how gently i pick them up,they hear it!!!)and they're all at the front, ears up and staring at me!! also,if they hear my mates landrover coming up the road, they start whining, knowing we'll be out!
  17. the cocking bolt or the loading bolt?if its the loading bolt, falcons are known for this. astrip, clean and re grease should help a little.
  18. looks like an fn19 but the stock is from an fn12(shorter) and looks like a home done "litehunter" conversion!lol
  19. i gut, skin and remove head(used to take feet off but don't anymore and it's made no difference) i also feed venison on the bone and raw. usually feed it fresh and not frozen but i do keep on top of worming and do it regularly.
  20. i get £2 apiece! sell them to a bloke in my dads local who sells them on to individual people!

    rat season

had a big un last night when out with the lurchers. it actually clapped in the middle of a stubble and didn't move even though we walked to within 3 yards of it! then bonnie made short work of it!!

    Donators

i think recent events should prove to people what this site is worth to them... a fiver? at least! i think those who are still here should donate £5 as a matter of course!! amagazine is in between 3 and 4 quid and is read within an hour so that makes the £5 donation seem like quite good value!! and if people actually want there £5 back for whatever reason, they must be very sad...i wouldn't have the cheek to ask for such a small amount back that has bought me so much entertainment!!!
  23. i nearly had a similar do two days ago,was cleaning the dogs out and tyke did a runner out of the gate, straight into the path of a cat!he took off after it.... luckily he ran into a mate(also a dog lad)from over the road and he grabbed tyke in the nick of time! that would have been bad! broad daylight on a main road with the neighbours all about!
