what caliber rifle ? 22/250 ?
-
two things i can think of is cut out a old plant pot and put it over your lamp so it acts like shade. this will then cut out the glare from barrel. and give you a tighter beam. second thing is if your scope is mounted low to your barrel that isnt going to help. higher mounts mite stop the problem. if it was me the plant pot option is best

hi mate i have only just started making my home loads for 22/250 and things are going ok. dicehorn is a guy to speak to has he loads for a number of calibers including 22/250. as for the gear i got all my stuff off reloading solutions. about the best prices and the ower is allways willing to help you out for the best. and not just sell you the most expenive stuff.

top stuff. the land looks lovely to

a couple of lads on the bbs swear by them. they reload for them which acording to them you have to do. to get the best out the rifle reloading is a must. fast, flat, accurate and can see the hits as recoil is lower then 22 centrefire mods. i would have one and in the future mite ? i have hmr for rabbits and 22/250 for fox and vermin and soon to be deer. 204 or 20 tac in future for day time rabbits and crows would be very nice.

went out for a quick lamp last nightand seen a good amount of foxes but some wouldnt stay still for that split second need to get a shot off. anyhow one came to call with my hand. and i shot it at 60 yards with 22/250 using winchester silvertip 50 grain. front of chest shot and donw it went no problem it was a big vixen and had a fair amount of weight on her when i picked her up. drove round the top part of farm and a fox was coming again to call but i couldnt take a shot as it was behind a fence and couldnt see it clear [bANNED TEXT] tinto the next field to see if he would po

people that say they shoot hmr at 200 yard rabbits alot are living in a dream. you try a rabbit over 200 yards at night with centrefire is a good shot the hmr doing it is another thing. yes it mite be done a couple of times but not consistantly shot at that range. you would have to no bullet drop and hold over very well. or no the amount of clicks on your scope needed to do it consistantly. there is alot of crap about the hmr and long range i and i would bet anyone couldnt hit rabbits all night at 200 yards

yes mate trouble is i would have to put in for 243 for the deer with them being roe. silly rule really when they can shoot roe in scotland with 22 centrefire. never mind im more into foxing anyhow. sorry i havent posted that book back to you yet on longnetting. i have wiped the message you sent me for your work address. psend it to me again mate and i wll get it sorted asap. as for the fox iyes it is pretty far under lamp. thats what i like about the 22/250 its point and aim -
Cautions of shooting birds with a rimmie
jamie g replied to saxosportsaxo's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
ive shot pigeons out the trees with hmr no problem. i wouldnt shoot up at them tho. i sniper them out the trees in the hillside below a big oak tree i sit under up on a hill. of course its shooting them out of a tree but behind the trees there in is just big hills of mud. so it can be done from a hill top shoot looking down on trees. just make sure you can see all round and through the tree lines -
went out for a lamp on some permission monday night and see a couple of foxes about. one wasnt hanging about. the second fox was moving right to left in cut field. again wouldnt stop then went out fo sight behind a dip in the gound. got the 3 fox tho off top of my 4x4. 235 yards when ranged. not the longest shot in the world but my longest so far. i would perfer them to come in range even more. but sometimes they wont so have to have a longer shot at them. see 4 roe deer to just sitting on the border of one field into the other by some train tracks. lovely watching them go about ther

sorry the scope is sold

he did mention the mentoring to me but because i have been out most weeks with my best mate and his .22 & .222 for the last few years he said that a supporting letter would be fine which my mate did for me that night and i took it in the next day, but this still turned out to not be good enough thats life im sorry to say. if you where in scotland then im sure you would have got open from start. dont turn it down get it and get as much ammo through it as you can then in 4 to 5 months get your friend to write you a letter and ask for open then

hey you get your ass down here with that 20tac im looking forward to seeing what it does.

just get the 22/250 and use hmr for rabbits. noise with ase mod will be same as a 223 with same mod. lovely and flat ideal for night. just got back over a small farm seen a fox sat by oak tree ranged it and it was 235 yards put crosshair on him slipped the tigger and the noise of the hit i new was game over. no hold over just aim and pull easy.

thats fair comment but if there isnt a big lot of factory ammo in the shop and they only sell a couple of brands. what happens if your rifle dont like them ! its going to be very hard to get the accuracy it needs
-
shooting rabbits at 150 yard head shots consistant is hard. yes a fox is bigger but in the real world the hmr is 100 yard gun max on fox
-
i havent got any of the abc stuff on my open ticket i no that when i got it back open tho the was something that changed and that my rifles numbers are on the there now
-
you plan on reloading for it to get best results ? factory ammo isnt as easy to find for it in all areas. if you dont reload then check to see if you can get factory ammo in your area. if not a 223 mite be a good choice

it does seam dear mr l but i was in his shop yesterday and he all ready has taken orders from shops for it. as there isnt any on the market at the moment im sure he is on to a winner. the mag from what im told is alot better made then the standard mags for the cz. it will be one of those you want one or you can do with out one

To load or not too load!?
jamie g replied to Grousekeeper84's topic in Reloading and Gun Maintenance
depends what you want from the rifle and how much you use it to justify reloading. havent you got any mates you could go see. so they could show you the ropes. or better still sort out a round for your rifle. -
andrew banner is making them for the hmr will be out around december time. price around £85 pound
-
i cant see how they can pass the other permissions you added at start of fac. and then tell you that you you cant shoot them ? whats the point of them passing it ! get on the phone to them
-
as above very good condition had it on 22lr,hmr and 22/250 no trouble at all its now back on hmr but ive just got a 4200 elite for my hmr so this is no longer needed. pitty really its done me well and the scb crosshair is good for different distance's when shooting. im sure i have the sunshade and box for it at my parents house somewhere so will have to find that out. quick sale £155 posted these are £220 new + post so a little saving or can be picked up from my house for £145 so save on post.

.22LR or .17HMR For Very Close Range Fox
jamie g replied to Mutimer's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
shot a good 5 foxes over last month with hmr and its about placement. you have to have it on your ticket tho -
what have you got your scope set up at ? how far was the foxes you shot at and missed. i set mine up at 1 inch high at 100 yards. and its flat out past 200 easy ! if a fox is closer then 100 yards i just aim abit lower on his body. what i will tell you is alot of people i spoke to about it missed a fair amount of stuff when they 1st had it because they give hold over when they didnt need to and the bullet was going over the top of what they where aimming at. best thing to do is set a fox sized target up and different distance and see for yourself you will no the rifle then
