It's really popular in the states and I'd love ago myself shame it's illegal ;-( I assume it wasn't always againsed the law so has anyone partaken in this sport ? And is so what game have they taken ? A bit random but thought I'd ask ;-)

Thanks for the replys I try to keep him in the shade he likes to sit by the ferret hutch in the shade but missus said he's just been sitting in the sun most of the day while he's been out in the garden last couple days I'll have to keep an eye on him and get something for the burn

Noticed my dog has what looks like a sore on the top of his nose I thought it might have been a knock and he's scratched it but missus said he's been spending a lot of time in the sunniest spots in the garden so think it's sunburn anything I can put on it and keep it on without him licking it off

For The Lads Who Keep Pigs
Kemperz21 replied to Rat face's topic in Living Off The Land & Game Cooking
its not stupid question, we had a little problem finding somewhere when the time came ended up getting a farley localish butcher / abatoir to do the whole lot sausages rashers chops bacon everything except pudding all vacpacked for 100euro . Though that was a pretty good price. Edit to say also slaughteredWas it a big animal ? I mean is it worth all the hastle of keeping them for what you get in return cost of feeding looking after slaughter and butchering ? I'm really interested in this would like to do one day ;-) -
Yes I thought that was a lot I found out when I asked dad again the hives were being transported on a flatbed trailer he said the bee keeper said 4 hives broke or they escaped in transit flew over a hedge and into an open window of his cab dad panicked and probably made a bad situation worse me I've only had 1 wasp sting that's bad enough

I would go to a scrap yard and ask for some of the longest m10 bolts they have or a commercial hgv garage will def have somthing floating around in there scrap bin prob get it for free if not try a farm supply store will be your cheapest option hgv garage may have some checker plate aswell hope that helps
-
yes it's easy to brew but I found the stronger you go the less taste I did it a few times and the strong stuff was like stripped of flavour just alcohol tase left like vodka not nice so be carefull how long you leave it to ferment and find a compromise flavour over strength
-
Chris87 yes easy to get hold of I found the metal plates in the garage but you could get from any hardwear store needs to be atleast 6mm maybe more thick checker plate will do and threaded bar I got from B&Q I've seen in farm suppliers too cheaper there just put together over a a drum and pull the plates together a bottle jack will work but you need somthing for the jack to press againsed have you made somthing already ?

Hi Chris87 yes it's simalar not much juice per Apple but all depends on the variaty of Apple eat one if it's really juicy you will get more I knocked up a press of basically 2 steel plates with holes in each corner what ever size you want and some threaded bar to to pull them together just put some muselin cloth around the outside to stop the apples flying out you can always top it up with some apple juice from a carton if you need more
-
