    I've had a quick go without straws just pushing a screwdriver into the damp sand makes a nice neat hole for the lead to be poured the problem I've encounterd is the same as when making fishing leads when making leads in a mould the first lot from a cold mould are crap hollow then as the mould heats up the leads get better and better this it because the lead sets on the surface and doesn't fill the void properly so in the end Ive started by putting the mould in the oven for 15 min just to heat it up so the lead has time to fill the void completely problem I have Is how do I heat a bucket of san

    You think so ? I make fishing weights out of lead in moulds and it's super bloody hot for 10 15 seconds straws in sand might work if sand was soaked with ice cold water but it's getting the lead into the straws can you get a funnel small enough ?

    Think it's about 10mm off the top of my head a mates making the mould for me very simple to make if your an engineer :-) just a block of stainless steel drilled out with a larger bore hole at the top to funnel in the lead then it's cut down the centre to allow for removal then I cut the rod to required lengths in theory it works ;-)

    Top man I will be happy to donate band sets home made pouches ammo natural fork blanks and if I can finish one up to a good enough standard a finished natural catty ;-)

    Roosika it don't matter it's all fun it's voted for so come up with a different shot that's funny or an artistic target that you smash some how I dnt know but I'd vote for a shot that cracks me up

    Can someone be a star and weigh some lead ammo for me please in 10mm 12mm and 14mm on digital scales in metric thanks just wondering as I can form a tube of lead an snip off to make ammo just need weights to get close to when measuring the length I need to cut

Once we get it going and have interest I've seen an entry to online catty comp on Facebook we could copy we could use a standard bisley target that's numbered rings you can buy anywhere for a quid for 10 or 20 can't remember have 4 shots at same target combined score entered into monthly comp

    Yes why not shot of the month / pic of the month I / catty of the month have a few different things going on I think it would be good for the forum I'm on almost every day sometimes few times a day and very few new posts in this section

    I had a mooch over on the slingshot forum and saw they have a monthly nominations for best catty and alike think it would be good to maybe try somthing like that on here ? Any ideas? maybe not the same but somthing to work towards each month show off your creations get hints and tips from more experienced catty makers any takers ? I'd contribute pics of my creations and I'm not very good at all maybe get a mod to pin a topic each month and we can upload pics

    Oh and I hit myself in the hand today trying to shoot a crow out me car window as I pulled up on permission hurt like feck but it was my own fault trying to shoot cack handed

    9.5 mm ss is a little light as I've found unless ur good with head shots even then I hit a bunny in the head with 1 it just jumped an buggared off lol

    Try eBay there's loads of diff types on there also try your local fishing tackle shop I've been looking into useing them for single bands no good looped as there pre cut more expensive but if you just want to try them worth a go

    Just what I was thinking of using looped tubes as thismorning hit a bunny at 10m ish square in the side of the head with single tbg and a 9.5steel he flipped over got back up an buggerd off couldn't belive it I'm going to try doubling them up for now but think I'll try tubes soon

    Be more carefull ( better shot you mean lol ) I know nothing will come of it but was just wondering on the law/laws think a comperehensive list of laws should be pinned for idiots like me lol not that I care outside my house just I can't run and say not me boss in my own garden lol

    Yes I know but a catty has a whole lot more power than say an air pistol that comes under laws that say no shooting within so many feet/ meters of a public highway didn't know if it was the same with a slingshot

    Yes sorry I should have said I have a camping roll mat hanging off the shed behind the cans but I must admit I'm not a great shot with my new catty I had a couple go 18" wide an hit the Wooden shed not miles wide but still made a bang
