  1. Thats a well written piece and i think you managed to keep your point without going all preachy, some trophy hunting is kind of wrong, like giraffe from 300 yards off the back of a land rover with a high powered rifle,i agree, also the point of taking the old strong animals makes sense but each case,or hunt needs to be taken on its own merit and the effects or reasons can go much deeper than we see or know, when a hunter pays 30000 to hunt an elephant it helps the people and they get the meat,so its a deep argument and i dont think it will be settled on thl!!
  2. Hey pesky not to piss on your chips because i do agree with small scale corvid culls where necessary, but couldnt you beef up the wire on your run to keep them out, preventions better than cure and all that, and tou cant watch it round the clock...
  3. H&n ftt are a good pellet, youll have fun shooting with your young 'uns and maybe do some fishing with them as well?..
  4. I found the forehand is the problem, the slightest movement seems huge through the scope, lots of shots were taken til I got myself comfortable and I had to keep adjusting the leading hand as each hold seemed to affect things quite a bit,i held the rifle like normal but with my forefinger held out parallel with the stock, right back near the trigger guard...
  5. Been and had a bash at this,15 yards down the garden and after trying to get the gun balanced and comfy go this group of five, Come on let's see some honest offhand groups and then we can all understand and maybe explain or exchange tips better!!
  6. That link has beat me to it but as going to ask how are you holding the rifle, getting everything locked in position and balanced comfortably has a big affect on the outcome...
  7. It's up to you what you spend your money on and see the thinking here but personally I'd go for an AA or HW in either calibre,I'm not saying don't bother as I've never even seen one but I know that personally I'd have two rifles, one of each calibre, rather than one with two barrels, Just think, this in .22 And this in .177 Aaahhh shooting!
  8. When a landowner says covered with rabbit it usually means they have seen one or two and imagined it must be covered, not at all a bad thing if it means they'll let you on to thin them out, even thought the numbers can be thin enough to start with! It's a new perm though and somewhere to shoot so coming home with two is good enough...
  9. Here it is racked off to clear, lost that cloudy pear colour, which I really liked, but has turned out nice, tastes good and will be left for a while before bottling...
  10. These open sight no camo one man and his dog affairs are a breath of fresh air man,its like a few still do if for a nobble in the garden or whatever but you do it at a top level and are bagging more than most with expensive gear coming out their ears,i like to see it and kind of know your going o keep 'em coming... Oh and in the pic it's like you're saying "I chased those ruddy poachers off but all I found was this lot!"
  11. Went again last night and had a better go at it,when I arrived my mate had set me up a basic hide, bonus! I got in and got comfy and within minutes I'd bagged a couple of pigeon, had slow periods and fairly busy ones so was a good mixture of reloading as fast as possible and keeping your concentration, Here's the trees they come off the farm from, My basic hide, which seemed to work fine, Some of the bag,got well over double this,
  12. Dude show us the rifle as well not a bad way to get to know your new gun that
  13. Never thought of this really,i'd guess if you let out the gas and let fermenting end it would be a wine, then would age like any other, wouldnt clear well in bottles though I think,
  14. Got out on Tuesday for a bit with my mates shotguns to reduce the corvid population that is troubling a farmer, had a walk around and bagged one but was hard going in the rain and under so much foliage so we waited it out against a hedge line that's on a flight line from the farm to the rookery, not bad going and ended with about eight but couldn't retrieve some and missed at least what we hit, considering I don't get out much and they were quite high shots I think I did ok, Supposed to be on them again tonight so I'll update if I get out...
  15. Sods law that you leave the gun when everything decides to come out, usually let you get close as well as if they know and are taking rise!
  16. I agree with the circle of life theory on this one, those trees are planted as a reminder, what better then to have apples forever and smile at the memories those dogs gave him whilst enjoying them,i understand you leaving the most recent tree for a bit but tuck in and enjoy the fruit of that dogs labour my friend!!
  17. Found this and thought it may help?? Really am finding this interesting...
  18. Peterm, sheep among wolves here at the moment, without a solid statement one way or the other you won't sway anyone,i won't lie I'm a bit ignorant on this subject and know little just what I've read, you say that's all you can say at this time,is that because you are instructed not to say anymore or don't actually know anymore to say,as I feel if it's the latter you'll not win this argument...
  19. Agree with the sympathetic sentiment Kay but the reason is important, for now let those affected grieve but it won't be long before the public and the world will want to know why, some for closure some for prevention and some to sell shitty papers but answers will be demanded, hopefully for whichever our reason,we will get them...
  20. most likely a weirdo loner feeling rejected by the world wanting to be accepted by somebody I think he's a martyr for his cause tbh,it appears he's been an Islamist a long time. If this happens even 3 or 4 more times gays won't be so loud and crass anymore, and children won't grow up thinking this lifestyle is normal. Not to say I agree with his method at all,but his goal may be achieved one day soon thanks to his sacrifice. I think this act and others like it,charlie hebdo, brussels bombings etc, gives the public of all sexual orientation, religion and race the strength to stand against a c
  21. Found this might be worth a look, quite a bit of info and at the top level... https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=http://www.issf-sports.org/theissf/academy/e_learning/pistol.ashx&ved=0ahUKEwjDjOur6qTNAhULCcAKHSyZCUwQFghRMA0&usg=AFQjCNH0haTOMk5Wi9rF_XGjawndHd1SEQ&sig2=aEYy5KKicEypZjJ9QJeQdg
  22. For one handed I think my tips are stand with your feet shoulder width apart,as said hold loosely, and get your other hand on your hip or down by your side,i think as with any shooting be consistent... Might look into getting a pistol now
  23. Oh and nice little gun there, would like something like that if I went for one...
  24. Luckily you don't need to be a marksman to despatch rats! Never really been a pistol fan myself but for garden targets I'm liking the thought more than I did, something for me and the kids to do,i don't have many tips really but am curious, are you shooting side on to the target one handed or square on two hand American cop on gun range style
  25. Looks a good outing and it can be hard going in the rain but maybe helped the stalk on the crow,im liking the pics with the info on them as well, looks a bit snapchat...
