  1. Few folk gave him places to try, up to him now to crack on an get mutts out, there's deffo bunnies and lots if them at some if the places mentioned, I guarantee it..
  2. After all his moaning he refused to buy them lol priceless lol 50 is nowt for hutch an couple working ferrets, sell them to somebody who wants them mate
  3. Rather than correct bad behaviour I reward good behaviour if that makes sense, unless it's a really nawty puppy wuppy then of course it'll need told not to eat your jeep an piss on back seats lol starting with a new pup I prefer it to associate my voice with the good things not the bad things, got all time in world to get it trained, get it in frame of mind to please you first.. Just to add I've never told a gundog to sit never mind train one, this is how I fetch on lurched/terrier pups and I'm sure if I'm wrong somebody will tell me lol
  4. Gaz I was brought up getting told that, these days I still live by many of the wee rules/sayings I learnt back then, but and with the mutts there usually a but somewhere, I understand not everybody needs/wants an even litter, I do, and in doing so the pups would mostly suit folk that do a similar job as me with there mutts, some guys don't mind a hit of variance in a litter as usually no 2 folks who to come to look litter will be wanting the same thing, some will prefer a whippet type, others may be after the bigger pups, I however if I ever breed will do it for me and a couple f close mates s
  5. We're they trained fighters? Or just guys who liked a good scrap an we're good at it?
  6. Well if who ever gets it needs a hand let me know, I got a 3 legged dog a 1 eyed ferret an 12 purse nets ready to rock and roll... lol
  7. When you add greyhound and whippet to the same dogs, you could end up with either or, I was brought up not to mix the 2, iv seen loads do it and seen some handy mutts bred with both in, but I wouldn't mix the 2. I like a fair idea as to what I'll end up with
  8. I'll fetch it but only for the end of day pics...
  9. Aye a wee silver Parker pen like rod with a goldy coloured reel mate that's the ones we had. Paulus we got a 10lb sturgeon In garden pond I'm dying to hook on light tackle, my lad got a little lidl telescopic here that would do well I reckon, but like I said we banned from even testing our bait in there now lol
  10. They were in most shops a few years ago foxtails, I'm sure they started off about 6 quid but price kept dropping, like I said I got 2 for a fiver when in in-store with wife, daughter had a little trout on one but the kids ended up messing about with them in garden pond lol my lad hooked a 2lb koi and the wee rod gave up the ghost, I think they a novelty thing and not designed for real fishing, at least I hope not if a pet carp in a garden pond can ruin them lol in-laws won't let us put another line in there now lol
  11. They ain't even as good as an Argos whip lol
  12. Really, I think they shouldn't be allowed in.....
  13. Aye most do mate, but it'family money like you say if my kids need it and dogs need it, it'll go to kids no ifs no buts no coconuts lol I suggest insurance, it gives me peace of mind, what I'm saying tho is, if your serious you'll find a way of making it work, if not do without, but you certainly don't need to be rich to have lurchers, like most things in life it can be done with the basics but throw some money at it and it does become a bit easier..
  14. Just seen.. perfect for professional poachers...... Ffs ma sides are sore here, I dare you to hook summat decent on it lol
  15. Lol I paid 5 for two of these for kids mate, 20 quid lol
  16. f*****g best of foods cheap for working dogs gain 28 for one. Its treaments and vet bills that hits us in the pocket. Can't live our life's scared of having our dogs injured pal, otherwise they wouldn't get off lead. Some dogs never need a vet, some do more than most, insurance aint exactly a crippling cost, but it is an extra monthly bill, if you can afford it tho it gives some peace of mind. Just out curiosity, how many wee pound nuggets do all you a lads set aside in a bank account or piggy bank for just in case emergencies? I'm betting not many put anything away...
  17. Even if it's only for marking, I'd not go ferreting without a dog..
  18. Sounds like a lot of folk trying to put off a youngster from getting a dog... Let's face it, how many folks on here had all the gear they needed before they started. Go ok I been hunting years now and there's still a few odds an sods I could be doing with... get a pup and you will have around a year to get things like a lamp, although the pup will obviously need food and a few treatments before then, hardly need to be a lotto winner to own working dogs... anything spent on them is a small sacrifice to pay when things come good and you and the mutt are out in the wind and rain doing what w
  19. I find farms are a good place to start
  20. We get them trotting maggots or corn, usually get them In deeper faster bends in river here, excellent fun on light tackle will be trying to suss them out properly on fly this year tho..
  21. Can't comment on anything that happens before I was born lol so I won't, but as a kid I was told a lurched was usually a collie/grey x terrier/grey and deerhound x Grey's were long dogs used for hares, to me a lurched is a dog that consistently catches game..
  22. Was just a little glass fuse with silver ends mate, never had a size on it..
