  1. I've just swapped my stoeger for a umarex mod55 (hammerelli 550) it's older then my stoeger put is shooting near pellet on pellet which obviously for a budget springer I snapped up the deal. The only issue is the blueing, I oil it every time I have been out but still three days later when I come to use it again there is surface rust coming through, it's not stored in a damp place it's stored with my shotguns which don't have this problem so I was just wondering if anyone has any advice. I'm not going to reblue it as its not worth the price for that gun and I can't afford it anyway just yet
  2. Am I right in thinking that a .22lr and .17hmr are capable of humanely taking a fox but its unlikely to get them listed for that purpose?
  3. Armoury? I'm only after three calibres really with good reason for them all. Thanks walshie that makes sense. As far as I am aware none of them are cleared as yet. Thanks Billy

  5. My situation is, ive got quite a bit of land to shoot on and I have an air rifle and 12g. A lot of the landowners don't let me use the 12g due to livestock with the noise. I wanted to apply for my FAC anyway but I've only had my SGC for nearly two months so don't know if its too soon to apply or not? I want to apply for .22lr, .17hmr and .22-250 to start and then in time a variation for .308. Or instead of .22-250 and .308 just apply for .243 from the off. My quarry is mainly rabbits and fox and then soon deer hence the bigger calibre in time. The main permissions I want to list
  6. Welcome to the site. Good to see a young one outside without an Xbox
  7. I think it's being turned into a physics lesson more than a hobby. I understand you need to be comfortable with your gun but if you spot a target and have to spend twenty minutes preparing for the shot you will just miss the chance. I don't even use a rangefinder I just know how my gun behaves at different ranges and then judge by eye. Never had a problem and to me it keeps it as a hobby not a chore. IMO
  8. f***ing hell gaz I bet you regret selling me that safe now? I put a company director on mine as well and it was accepted
  9. Well I had a word with the head gamekeeper today and he apologised and admitted they don't own the shooting rights. He asked if I would just use an air rifle so I said no. He then said if I agree to just use an air rifle then he will let me shoot on all the land he does own the rights to which is the three neighbouring farms and the woods. I think that's a fair deal
  10. Wrong topic. Mod please delete
  11. Sorry for the late reply. That's a bit out my price range but thanks anyway
  12. But even if it is the case that the rights where completely sold. Surely the land owner is able to control pest species on his land through me just not game
  13. But the current land owner has owned it for 18 years and he has never sold the rights and in 18 years the shoot has never fired a gun on his land. The only thing I can think is that maybe they where sold by the previous owner but then the new owner has never been told
  14. That's what I was thinking so it seems its still perfectly legal for me to shoot rabbit, pigeon and fox?
  15. I came into a bit of a problem yesterday. I've just got myself an absolute dream permission. It's not been shot for over 18 years and is literally crawling with rabbits, fox, pigeon, partridge, squirrels and a few hares. I've been trying to get it for nearly a year and finally got it for use with air rifle, shotgun and i can list it on my fac when i apply, they also said i can use the hawk when i get it and its with only one restriction (not to shoot a shotgun near the pig pen). As you can see its land I am over the moon to have. I turned up yesterday just to have a look around and thought
  16. Only after an old one mate for a few hundred. What have you got?
  17. Thanks a lot I didn't think of that. Ive been snooping around gum tree and eBay for days
  18. I am looking for a very cheap static caravan around Shrewsbury, Telford, Stafford, Wrexham areas. Must be off site as I want to move it and i don't mind if its furnished or not but must have kitchen and bathroom in place. Thanks Billy
  19. Funnily enough my dad got me into fishing which my mum hated. My mum is veggie and my brother and two sisters are all vegan. They call me a sadistic pig for hunting but I just smile and ask if they want to see some pictures it soon sends them on their way in a mood. When I was living at home I had a few BB guns which my mum used to break up and bin so I bought an air rifle and kept it at a friends that she didn't know about. What she didn't know didn't hurt. She doesn't like the fact I have shotguns now and told her friend he wasn't to countersign my application when I asked him. My siste
  20. Just thought I would let others know of a friends campsite on the English/welsh border just outside Wrexham. It's completely secluded and he will accept both tents and caravans on grass pitches. Details and pictures her http://naturesnookcampsite.co.uk/
  21. Just thought I would mention on here that I remember at the beginning of the thread there was a struggle with location. I know it's sorted now but may help for the future. There is a bloke I know that runs a campsite and I had a word with him last night about a block booking from here if he would be okay with field target if it was organised by THL and he said its absolutely fine so maybe one to bare in mind? It's on the English/welsh border outside Wrexham so pretty central too. The website is http://naturesnookcampsite.co.uk/ He will accept tents and caravans all on grass pitches an
  22. Wow I've never seen that before but certainly interesting. I meant like a rabbit spinner type thing
