  1. If you take me on your permissions I will teach you how to load a gun
  2. No offence intended but the part about DDA I think is complete shit! Numbers of pit bulls are still through the roof. I personally know 30+ owners in a 5 mile radius
  3. I couldn't agree more, very sensible post.
  4. Seen/read I never thought you where arguing mate
  5. Okay I accept that's wrong I will rephrase it to "some of the dog men" ive seen some amazing owners on here but also some awful ones
  6. I understand genetic inheritance is preferred but to say a working line guarantees a better working dog than from a pet line is just silly. The same way I think a dog from a working line can make a good pet
  7. Of course it can........but common sense tells you dogs bred for work are likely to produce more and better than dogs bred to sit on the sofa. I disagree but I respect your opinion as I'm sure you respect mine
  8. So a dog not from working lines can't be trained to work?
  9. Another point for thought: Pit bulls are banned and seized every day under the dangerous dogs act as they are "born killers" more than % of siezed dogs get put on an exempt list and get sent home as they dont pose a great risk.....
  10. Thats as may be in dogs bred with no purpose..........but dogs bred for purpose throughout the generations nature will often play a far bigger part than nurture. So why is it then that the dog men on here buy lurchers or terriers from working lines then after a season pts because it hadn't made the mark?
  11. Exactly Dan, yes different breeds have different 'properties' but I believe upbringing plays more part in temperament than genetics
  12. I know that wasn't aimed at me however I am from Liverpool originally and there is hundreds of pits there and I know a lot of people who have them and they have lived and died with families and kids without a hiccup. They are bred to protect people they pose no threat in family life if raised correctly they are just another dog. Breed is completely irrelevant! There are tiger cubs born from a wild feral tiger but the cub is raised in captivity and can't be released because its too friendly. Its the same with dogs, raise it right and you'll have a loving family member regardless of breed!
  13. I will defend pit bulls as much as I'll defend staffs! Deed not breed!
  14. And the moral of the story.....do your own research before you believe the media!
  15. I genuinely haven't but as I said I dont have my own kids just kids visiting with friends so ive never had a reason to leave them although I know I could I would be inclined not too. My dogs follow me everywhere anyway so if I went into the kitchen or garden they would just follow me out
  16. ......Dogs bite hard because they want to....simple. Id rather be bitten by 100lb Labrador with a head like a medicine ball..............than a snipey narrow headed 30lb fully charged pit bull ! I have to agree with both points here. A lab does have a bigger jaw but a pit has more power behind it. I wouldn't choose either to be honest
  17. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I know that how my exes child was playing with my dogs was safe and so did she. Had it been a different dog that's a different story. The dog in question is three years old and I have had her since she was two weeks old! (That's another story all together) I know it was a safe environment and I was sat right next to him. My dogs are my world but had things turned nasty I wouldn't hesitate to stop the situation with any means possible. I also just thought I'd add she's a bull x whippet so I wonder how many of you dog men have your kids playing with you
  18. I completely agree no dog should be left alone with children. I trust mine 150% but wouldn't leave them unattended with a child be that someone else's or mine in the future but I wouldn't if I had a poodle either!
  19. The child was two years old and weighed nothing. He was stood over my dogs back while she was sat up attempting to sit on her like a horse I think. She could have just walked away but was more than happy to be a climbing frame. She kept turning around to lick him so she can't have been bothered
  20. Okay its 8 years old and they've had it two months. They where told it was okay yet it was a stray. I have to say that is an irresponsible owner and not suitable ammunition to tarnish every person with a bull breed!
  21. the BBC started with a picture of the little girl sat next to the DDB but by the evening where showing a picture of a bull type and mentioning beefing up the dangerous dogs act Its the same with most of the attacks that the media cover! They are always saying a bull breed attacked but a lot of the time it isn't!
  22. Accip yes it is stronger than a basset as I have felt the power of both first hand my point being alot of women and men wouldn't have much defence on the wrong side of either! Paulus that's exactly the reputation from the media I'm talking about. If they can say its a bull breed then they will
