Are business people more important than artists and writer ? Probably not ! Business people ARE important, but so are artists and writers.............just in different ways. I'm forced to disagree with the question, which (I guess) would move my result slightly to the left.

The British anthem, yes. At the Commonwealth games, the home nations compete separately..............so an English anthem is needed. "God Save the Queen" was used until recently, but now it's "Jerusalem"..........and I'm not convinced that the right choice !

And I can see my usual curmudgeonly state drifting into "ratty old git", before the day's out - I've just been informed that we're going out to get a new garden gazebo.......to replace the perfectly good one we've already got. Still, at least I can sing "Jerusalem" while I'm at it !

A - Agreed ! B - Who voted for it ? Nobody asked me ! C - Agreed again ! I know all of "Jerusalem" too - compulsory Sunday School to be in Boys Brigade.

They've nearly finished now, and i haven't followed them - but, for some reason, the netball caught my eye this morning............anyway. I saw an interview with some English runner (not British in these games, of course), who'd won a sprint gold medal. Towards the end, she said she was a bit wrong footed, when "Jerusalem" was played instead of "God Save the Queen", and confessed that she "didn't know the words"........at which point my finely tuned Outrage-o-meter flickered into life. A - I have always been under the impression that "Land of Hope and Glory" is the English anthem.

It is ! My wife's dad has been there for the last 3 or 4 years............ one of those "holidays for a tenner" things. (Personally, I think it's way overpriced !) The good lady's youngest son worked there for a couple of years early 2000's.............

The off license I go to is run by 2 Sri Lankan brothers. Smashing fellas and, like most Sri Lankans, totally cricket mad. A while back, I went in and, sure enough, they've got cricket on the telly behind the counter. "Who's playing ?" I asked him. "Sri Lanka" he says with a big smile. "Who they playing ?" "Pakistan" he says "so it's probably fixed !" See..........NOBODY likes them !

I think you're right ! When we lived in Boston - which would hopefully also be within the blast radius - we went to Skeg for the day, one early October. Probably the longest day of my life - it was like a cemetery with fairy lights !
