in whos eyes ? a rabbit is a rabbit ! in my opinion, you cant stop ferreting just because theres young around, a kill is a kill. the only thing that stops me ferreting is not been able to get through the under growth. rich or, if his hat is on back to front just noticed something in that photo, the dog thinks my head is on the wrong way round & hes looking to see what im looking at !

dont know if youve got them, but i would go & put up a few live catches up there... be worth investing in some, especially to get your ferreet back.

Only a few today all singles fair play.... how many traps did you have down to get them, or how many effected areas... ? got this one today on the same trap as i got the last 2 in a few days, he was coming from the other direction.. on the 15th now from this garden. on certain sections the ground collapses from under your feet, the earth is riddled with tunnels, the ground feels spongey.

this is a conspiracy ! :glare:

f*ck me ! thats brought back some memories. monkey magic & his magic cloud..

hi jack.... he definately had a short back & sides there ! this is "dent" in action...

gollum, i would work them... as long as you have a 15ft/16ft collar on you stand more of a chance... its true what has been said.. flat land tends to have shallow buries & warrens on hills or banks tend to have deeper tunnels. do your ferrets have a habit of laying up ? do you always feed them before you go out ? only you know how your ferrets work. mine will go down & work their way through untill everything has bolted or they have killed all that is under then resurface. ive never had a ferret lay up & fall asleep. but lets be honest, how can we walk up to a b

put a nest box for them to have some some dark cover... mine spend the majority of the day sleeping & out of site. looking at the set-up you have, you should definately give them a seperate box, keeps the draft off them. if your worried about the wood absorbing moisture just put a light coat of non toxic wood sealer as i have done... also it looks like you hutch is drafty as it in a shed.

turned up this morning on an ongoing domestic & noticed a fresh lone hill from yesterday, it was right in the corner of the garden. located the tunnel. using the clump of earth i removed i pressed it up against a fence post to make it flat. cut the piece in half. put a peace on either side to stop any soil falling through. got some loose soil from a near by hill to cover any gaps & stuck my marker in. fingers crossed i should have it by tomorrow !

just got back from checking the traps... got another one in the same trap & same side. after making a few adjustments from yesterday only one side was triggered. this one was my 14th from the same 3 acre garden in a month... rich

do you know what makes me laugh... when you ever call deben to complain or to explain what problems your having, the woman who answers the phone always says: " your the first person to have that problem "... must admit though, the only ever problem i had with my mk3 was the nylon collars coming off my small jills no matter how tight i done them up, sorted by putting mk1 leather collars on.

are they packing up because of the batteries being dead?, cant understand any other reason, as they dont have moving parts to them, are you saying that pin point thingy actully does more than just turns the sound off? thats what makes most users, think they are useless, using it only to turn the sound down its used to fine tune the signal, which leads you to the fert, if the pinpoint aint used, people may as well chuck it in the bin some users dont realise that steve... by using it without any sound, "pinpointer turned all the way down" will still tell the user

are you trying to rub it in & add salt to the wounds ! richie

mines a gen1. i can see out to 150/200yrds which is more than enough on my rimmy. ive been looking at getting agen2+.. will come in handy when i get my 17hmr.. just have to justify spending that amount of cash.

went out first thing this morning to check a few traps i set in a garden yesterday.. i removed the piece of turf & thought result ! my first double catch..... i removed the trap & it wasnt to be.. still caught the one i was after.. before putting the trap back in the ground i reset both sides again, i triggered the caught side off again & it set the other side off, probably explain why both sides went off. a little adjusting & it seems ok now.. im still waiting for my double catch..

speak to geoffrey, tell him what your needs are & your budget & he will be more than helpfull. one thing i would definately reccommend, get the 90mw laser, beats any of the led illuminators, chalk & cheese. http://www.nightvisionsupplies.co.uk/merlintac.php

its a doddle to use, only down side is you sometimes need 2 hands to use them when you have to adjust the pin pointer which is used for the same purpose as the mk1 wheel. i reckon if they bring out a mk4, which one day they probably will, the should put the pin pointer on the side the same as the mk1. i use both mk1 & a mk3. i find they both do the job.

i use a cobra merlin / 90mw laser illuminator.....

cheers for today steve, had a good day, nice to meet your misses & you too jack "ferret216". bullsmilk, yep my longnet could do with a few more poles, it does the job, but i have got to sort it out soon, you know how it is !.

tick removal tool. everyone should have this.
richie replied to gsi2000stokie's topic in Ferrets & Ferreting
SNAP!! They're brilliant. You can even get the little pinhead sized ones that seen to attach round the eyes. It don't seem to bother the fert either. ive tried them metal looped ones that are suspose to go over the tick the you pinch them together & pull the tick out, load of shit ! your right maltenby, these ones are capable of taking the tiniest ticks off, ones you can just about see. £5 from pets at home
