  1. nice pat, how old are they ?
  2. fair play.... i will do.. the only problem with this job is that im very limited to where i can site the traps. the woman has her daughter & grandchild "10 year old" living with her & the friends are always playing in the garden & getting up to what kids get up to. the trap pictured is approx 5 metres up on the only suitable area. after i sited the trap i removed all the lower branches just as a precaution incase one of the kids decided it would be a good idea to climb the tree. so im going back tomorrow & placing another 3 traps on the same tree as that is w
  3. i see what youre saying my theory is the target will see the bait at one end & see thats theres only one way to get to it, then bingo. i suspose we use what works for us. as for bait, peanut butter ! they cany resist.
  4. Richie - nice job there but why close off the other end? You have reduced the catching ability by half by doing that. The Fenn will work equally well from both sides! Does the 'treated' timber smell of anything?? If so they may need to be weathered off inside and out before use OTC good point made OTC. i have others made that have entrances on both ends that i lay on the edge of a wall mainly if im going for rats to catch them on a run. the one entrance type pictured above i use for squirrels & place the tunnel at the base of the tree with the entrance facing the
  5. these are the cubbies i put together... what do you lads use ? treated timber with 1" x 1" mesh. i have the rear sealed off. the entrance is just large enough to get the target in.

  7. Hi Richie, The pins are quite long but there is method in my madness As the wind can sway the poles a bit when the net is lofted I allowed a bit extra on the pin length to account for the pulling effect on the pull cord. This was before I had put the full length guy on so now I guess they could be cut down as the sway wont be able to affect the length between pole tops. That said, I havent had any problems with pulling the pins out, only that they were catching on the bag as mentioned above. The new guy line seems to lock all the poles together really well but my guess is that without later
  8. hi gollum...looks impressive. looking at your top picture & the lengths of your drop pins, are they needed to be that long ? cant see why. have you thought about shortening them so they only go through one side so the distance needed to travel to drop the poles is less ? rich
  9. i always bring -/+, but since i bought the longnet they hardly get used. longnets are definately the way forward. also it all depends on the situation. rich

  12. cheers.... thats what i used. a smearing of peanut butter & some peanuts thrown in, works a treat... the lady has had them causing havoc in her garden. they`ve just started making their way up the side of her house & scratching away at the soffit & facia board, so she has decided to nip it in the bud now.... rich
  13. got my kanias ready today for a job that started this morning... section of treated timber.. placed the mesh to allow easy access.. placed a tunnel around.. secured the kania to the piece of timber & drilled 2 holes to secure.... trap set & baited with peanut butter & nuts, threw some round the base of the tree & fingers crossed should have Mr grey soon.
