  1. I think you are somewhat missing the spirit of the response, and the point of my response. The advice is simple..Don't buy a 10-22 if you want a trouble free life or unless you intend to throw most of it away and buy a bucket load of spares, and spend more time cleaning it that shooting it!! Out of the box many of them will struggle to cycle subs! Am I wrong??? Chill out Richie.. you have already confirmed most of what I said in your original response! youre not wrong.... i have to say, the basic models are shite ... ive only owned the target versions whi
  2. end of the day deker, their a cheap knock about gun... mine serves me well.. mine are both accurate out to the distances needed, & that does me. & were not talking about a car, were on about a rifle that costs a few hundred pound. the blokes asking for advice !
  3. i give my ruger 10/22T`s a complete strip down every 500 -/+ shots & also the moderator. you would be surprises with the amount of shit that gets built up over a small amount of time. a few things that i would reccommend which i have also done to my own rifles. # replace the EDM Extractor. # replace the Recoil buffer. " quietens the action down " # extended Volquartsen bolt handle. " better improved spring " # complete strip down every 500 -/+ shots. as said above. # automatic bolt release / extended magazine release. # use a piece of wet & dry t
  4. last night i finally got the chance to take out my new dedicated scope. http://www.nvscopes.com/night%20vision%20s...0HTH%20731.html a very simple unit to operate. i arrived at the farm at about 7.30pm, mounted the scope on my cz varmint & loaded it up with eley subs, set a target out at 65yds & placed it on the ground at a rabbits head height.. i put 20 or so shots down the barrel to make sure the grouping was spoton. i find if i sight in for 65yds the path of the bullet is quite flat out to 100yds. in this picture the cross hairs are fixed & focused a

  8. well im off to the rifle club now, 25yrd, 50yrd & 100yrd ranges. going to zero my unit in for this evening & spend tonight putting it through its paces...
  9. is he local enough to have a view before you buy ? ask him where he bought it, give them a call.. Ian, are you thinking of moving over from add-on to a dedicated unit ? rich
  10. place it onto the lower ring so the scope sits on it. on a few scopes i use to place a few layers of kitchen foil folded over as needed, but obviously make the pieces thinner than the scope mounts so it cant be seen when the scope is placed in the rings.
  11. hi gary.... its quite open ground & i see them on the ridge of a hill with no safe back stop, so if by chance i missed by the fox suddenly moving, which could happen, i dont want to worry where the bullet will have impact. i would need to call them in another 75-/+yds to take a safe shot as the target would come down a bank with a nice back stop.. ill be using a nightscope & it will be on a friends 17hmr. i will try the baiting with a bunny, but just wanted to try to call them in, i think that would be a achievement for me..
  12. i do want them shot, its just the getting them in...
  13. i always see two to three fox`s each time im out on my permission.. i see them 150 / 200yds away. what do you lads recommend is the best method of calling them in ? a manual or electric device a wam ect ? cheers rich
  14. when i find a rabbit carrying young, i see it as a bonus...
  15. personally, i would rather take my mk1 to deben ! after all they did design & manufacture the products.
  16. Elmer, you say no more lamp shy rabbits, unfortunatly that is not completley the case, they do detect the illuminator and start fidgiting, if they have been heavily lamped before then they usually start to hop homeword once they are spotted, but it does give you an unfair advantage for a while. Regards MT. very true.... an illuminator can spook them. to get around it, i slightly aim off to the side to give the full concentration of the IR off of them but can still see them, then when im ready, just slightly move over & bingo...
  17. been reading a few post recently about deben not servicing the mk1 locators & collars... i called them today & asked if this was so, they still do service the locators & collars with an inspection fee of £10. they also said they have no intention in the near future of stopping servicing them.. rich
  18. x 6.... ill take it out tonight if it stops raining.. i want to give it a good field test in the next week or so then post my feedback... richie
  19. yeah, they run along the length of the wall...
  20. i had to look twice when i saw it looking at us, couldnt believe my eyes. theyve been running in & out of there for years, you can see the scratch & claw marks.. i dont think she`ll be seeing many bunnies on her lawn tomorrow. that looks like a nice plot you went to today.... least you got out today pat, too warm to sit indoors. rich
  21. took a mate out today for the first time, been promising him for ages & had a few spare hours this morning.... we got to our first hedge, it was about 5 metre thick & about 25 metres long, but it only had a small set at one end. put the longnet around then put both ferrets down & sat back, waiting & more waiting so i got the locator out & got them both staying still at 1.5ft, so i marked the area. after another 10 minutes they surfaced so i boxed them up. i started digging down where i marked, stones & lumps of concrete ! just my luck, but after a bit of elbow
