  1. It's a line from a film. I don't mind admitting I can't shoot straight on here, but my clothing preferences are private !

  9. No idea on the first one, but the second I can cope with - The Italian job .... " I am definitely not wearing underwear" (edited to add answer after seeing baw's post ! )
  10. The " Just for Pets " lot do chipping for £10 - local vets charge £29. Their vaccination charges are lower too.
  11. Have you got anything other than amox ? IMHO it looks infected, hence the swelling, and the delay from the original wound. Amox on it's own won't cover many of the bugs that are the most likely culprits for infection ( it's better for chest infections and the like)
  12. They should tell you what they are going to do, and how much it will cost - same as a garage would. If you have agreed for them to do the work, then I can't see you having much come back on not paying. They just love to hear owners say " I don't care what it costs, just make Fluffy better " - not suggesting anyone here does, but you get the drift.
  13. All mine are insured - and I still do a lot of stuff myself - stitches etc. Mainly because putting 2 stitches in a small wound ( or glueing it or whatever is needed ) is something I can do without any problem. I personally dont think it is in my dogs best interest to spend the day at the vets and have sedation/anaesthetic to do the same thing. The insurance covers the big stuff, and means if one of them needs xrays or operations etc, then they can add all the extras they like ( fluids, painkillers, etc etc) and the bill is paid by the insurance - and I am not worrying about how to pay the mort

  15. and did you turn a blind eye to this or report him? He got caught and stopped working as a vet.
  16. Agree. I went into vet nursing as a naive 17 year old, and it was quite an eye opener. Not all vets, but enough to tarnish the reputation. I'm a softie - I freely admit that I would sell my house if it meant one of my dogs got the treatment he needed - but the unnecessary stuff they try to do is just wrong.
  17. Not that shocking. I've been a vet nurse for many years - the first place I worked at was a one vet practice. He would regularly take in cats/dogs with vomiting and diarrhoea because he could "feel" something inside them. He would knock them out with gas anaesthetic, cut through the skin on the belly, sew it back up with 4-6 stitches. He would show the owners an xray of a cat abdomen with a drawing pin in its tummy, and charge the owners £100's for xrays, operation etc etc - when it was nothing more than an upset tum. Not all vets are the same - I have worked with some amazing people - but, th
