  2. AA, back in the 50's in Leyburn (home of Frank Buck) i'll bet they called it a Fell, as did both Buck & Brey, they may have also said B&B type. Things may have gotten a little corrupted over time and to generalise the type may of said a Nuttall, as thats the most common known stamp of black now.
  3. cant believe you missed vampire He killed the other three so I left him out!
  4. Right AA this is my take on it. Back in 1988 Brian Nuttall gave a talk night in the Dog & Partridge pub, in Pemberton, Wigan, for the old Wigan Dog Club of which I was the Chairman. As always Brian was articulate, well spoken and a font of knowlage of all things working terrier and hunting. At the end of the evening he took an open forum Q&A, the pub was packed full and I can remember the same two questions being repeated over... 1. What is the difference between his old and new stock? 2. Has he put any bull blood in his dogs? On Q1, Brian stated that there was no differenc
  5. Right guys, just a quickie, how do you post youtube stuff with the vid, insted of just the link?
  6. Was that Tyson bitch 'Rags', Christian? If so, a very good animal
  7. That Dalmation cross, is it an older dog? As a mate had one a few years back, decent dog on foxes.
  8. Plummers Rupert, 'He gave the line it's fiery copper coat'! Plummers Omega, 'To use such an animal for earth work, would be like using a rapier to chop wood'! Plummers Warlock, Witch & Verdilak, 'siblings all killed in kennel fights'!
  9. Anfield cemetary, 30 years ago, praying we didn't get a kill in
  10. Four years ago, mid summer, looks well but a million miles from 'match fit'!
  11. My previous post.... This, though I don't know how to put the link up with picture! Simply beautiful....
  12. Yep Bert, dead right, Davo did well. Sometimes being very polite can save a whole world of shite, usually puts landowners on the backfoot too, when they realise they ain't gonna get a slanging match, abuse or a tear up, which when they get out there to confornt you they are expecting....! Don't get me wrong, sometimes, with some folk, it really don't work and then... Well thats your call.....!! As for ridiculous helecopter call outs and tax payers money.... I now live in the house I've always wanted to live in, full panoramic of nothing but fields, idilic...? The one fly in th
  13. :thumbs:A good deed done TL, well done mate!
  14. My mate has two, as said, funny little things, his large garden is soon to become a mudd bath and if you bend to pick sommat up the little feckers jump on your back. Rather you than me!
  15. Thanks for some great reading here boys. Duckwing, very interesting, as always. Met MR & CR a few times over the years, had a few chats about their dogs, good stuff. One thing you mentioned Duckwing is the tale of picking up the 'local' digging dog. We had one too, Snowy, a Russell/Beagle type of thing, wandered round the streets on a particular north Liverpool estate. We'd just make a quick dash back, search for Snowy round the streets and leg off to have a 'propper' dig! Always happy to go, he knew the crack and never let us down. Dropping him back off later, usually pe
  16. i dont see myself as an expert or purest and only giving my opinion, i think your right that the word 'game' had been taken out of context. can we agree it was a brave dog then lol ? Aye mate, we can
  17. To the Spanish, at top level, it is seen as we see opera, an art form. It would be wrong to see it as anything other than what it is and it could and should never be put in the same bracet as hunting, it only has one outcome (unless your that matador who was in the papers the other month!). I take GTE's point, its the LACS growth that is the issue, its representation in europe, publicity will give them stronger foothold. Europe, though in most cases is entrenched in tradition BUT its also fickle and in the current climate.....!
  18. Chimp, like I said in a previous post, I used the word game as an everyday, general sort of word, do you purests belive your the only ones who can use it? It was internet banter, chat, call it what you will, just being descriptive. Belive me, I know what a Game Dog is, in the truest sense of the word. But please don't compare a Spanish fighting bull to that one after the floods, or that boar in the pic you put up, like the difference between that plucky ebt and the 'genuine article', neither are in the same league!
  19. Your dead right Chimp, Dread etc, the dog was nothing but a little shithouse! How dare anyone mention the word 'GAME' in any sentence.... Unless your the 'purest' police!!!! Feck me, you lot make me laugh.....! Like you all KNOW how a dog is supposed to do against a Spanish fighting bull..... See it week in, week out do we????
  20. I used it as a figure of speach Kye, to illustrate a point, think most folks use it as general terminology, I do and i'd never do any injustice to the real mccoy.
  21. Aye Neil, they might, then some might say, it done enough.... How much was it supposed to do?
