    Big hats where the fashion back then Marshman but don't forget, to get a photograph took then was a rare and special thing, few people ever got them taken. So everyone in all those photographs are dressed from top to toe in their Sunday best. Whatever would people think if they wernt..! A fantastic historical record you have Marshman.

    a first cross cocker whippet i bet would make a good little ferreting/bushing companion. The ad read Lurcher and in the photo it looked stronger than a direct whippet/spaniel.

    Well watch this space mate,I will put an honest report up as I continually find out how this bitch adapts to various tasks and quarry over the forthcoming months..I find these "unusual" mixes quite intriguing and for some reason feel the need to try and make them something half decent lol Yep mate, I find unusual crosses the same, keep us posted.

    There is one of the same cross on preloved or pets for homes or sommat. I was only thinking what a interesting and handy little tyke it would be.

    Now that picture, old or modern, is just about the best kid picture thats ever been put up on this site IMO. The sheer joy of them youngsters tells how much that hare meant to them. Thanks for putting it up.

    I think the rabbits are there to show he is both a countryman and a provider. Showing he has the means to take care of his family. We see it as just a couple of rabbits but in their time they meant much more... In his other hand i first thought it may be a crooked cain but now you mention his horse background it is more likely a crop/whip of some kind. As said he is probably displaying the things that are significant in his life.

    I'm working this Sunday but if i wasn't i'd be heading north up the M6 for this one. Blencathra, a formidable mountain, a famous fell pack, all steeped in history and set in the beautiful Cumbrian countryside. That's what a day out at a show should be.

    Just for the hell of it really. The line i've kept must be near 30 years old now. Them bull bloods are well documented, true or not! Same with them coursing dogs, we can take it right back, Laddie, Swoop, Hoover and well before. So, other lines, Lurcher/Lurcher, Beddy, Collie, Deerhoundy and uncle Tom Cobbly an all.... Anyone out there keeping the same OLD stuff going? What's still out there, 30-40 years plus down the line.     oh my giddy aunt NO That's just awful, bras aren't that dear even wonderbra is cheap enough and that's a good brand so why would you want to buy a second hand one is beyond me. Primark it instead for the love of god Primani make hotter underwear than all the expensive name brands and the best bit, as a bloke, is that you can treat the Mrs a lot more regular to some new sets..!

    A scythe for two quid. Mrs Bosun was shitting herself for the next hour, as I near decapitated half the other people there with it over my shoulder, whilst looking for other stuff! It's rare i find much in car bootys, most gear is just tat but every so often there is sommat there that i imagine Jack Hargrieves could tell a tale on and i have to have it.
