  1. Theoretically I can appreciate the American argument concerning the right to bear arms. But in reality that freedom becomes oppressive to the vast majority of its citizens. Believe me if every Rangers or Celtic bigot had the right to carry guns, there would be carnage every time these teams met each other. Sometimes reality must take precedence over theory.
  2. No,but American citizens need to be protected from random nutjobs who appear to be plentiful in the land of the free.
  3. And what part of our law not letting us have guns can bring back the people at the Manchester concert and London Bridge, to name 2 attacks? We are permitted to possess guns providing we are not loonies or have a history of violence and plan to use them legitimately. In America any idiot can buy an assault rifle.
  4. The obvious truth is.... the yanks have ridiculous gun laws. No amount of defending the 'right of the individual to bear arms' and all that bollox can bring back 50 odd innocent concert- goers and thousands of other innocent lives every year. To take the yankee argument to its logical conclusion, an individual should be able to possess a nuclear bomb to deter the government from taking liberties with its citizens. They've got a collective screw loose.
  5. I've browsed that book a few times in a second hand bookshop, might have another look and drop a few hints to my Mrs.
  6. Yes mate. A lifelong dream gone, but he just couldn't leave such a big responsibility for his family to sort out............he did however downgrade to an American kestrel just to keep himself busy during this time......;-) A bit of black humour I knew you would appreciate. I saw a pair of golden eagles for sale for two grand. It seemed almost obscene to me that you could buy such ferocious beauty for the same price as a clapped out car! If I had the facilities to keep them I would have snapped his hand off.
  7. Getting rid of the eagle....that's feckin serious shit
  8. I had an alsation which was constantly bullied and ragged by my three quarter grey collie. One day she snapped big time. Couldn't pull her off. Eventually I got her off by aiming jet of water via a hose down the back of hervthroat so she had to release. The grey had to have more stitches than a potato sack.As you say I pity any dog that Buck does have a go back.
  9. Roofrack class. Was it chilly sitting there?
  10. Now look what you've done. Wilf will get excited by that print and this thread will run and run.
  11. Ain't that the truth!
  12. DT, the great patriot, couldn't fight in Vietnam because he had'bone spurs on his heels'. George Bush and Bill Clinton, two other great patriots, avoided the draft as well. A case of 'on you go boys, I'm right behind you'. donald-trump-draft-record.html He made me laugh today though. I heard him on an old Howard Stern show saying he reckoned he could have 'nailed' Princess Di. Apparently he bombarded her with flowers but she thought he was a 'creep.' I'm sure the yanks would have elected a cartoon cut -out of Homer Simpson had he stood for president. I'm still in shock that crook and oaf
  13. While I agree with your sentiment completely mate I have to pull you up and say there is NO so called far right government in Europe or the US. North Korea is as you know communist. The most worrying thing to me is that people keep voting for the same politicians that have brought the world to this point and made certain sections of people feel like their only home is the so called extreme! Now that's worrying because there is no end in sight to that cycle. Agree that it's worrying that societies across Europe are becoming more polarised. People are bewildered as to where we are
  14. Surely one sure lesson history has taught us is that far right and far left governments are to be feared. They are both ruthless, authoritarian and brutal. The rise of the far right in America and Europe (and North Korea) is worrying. Definitely not to be celebrated or welcomed. Be careful what you wish for.
  15. I've been happily married 45 years, she hasn't but I have. The secret of my happiness is my ability to wind my Mrs up whenever I want. Take last night. I'm watching stuff on Youtube. She's watching Strictly shite. The fat jockess lass has completed her wobbly dance and is making her way up the stairs. The other contestants are clapping like f***ing demented sea lions. I say:"Jesus it's like North Korea, one little fat arsehole being insanely clapped." No response, but I know I'm beginning to get to her. I try again."I thought she was gay, how come she's not dancing with another lesbian? No res
  16. I could never get excited about the referendum. It doesn't matter to me who makes the decisions,Westminster or Brussels, ordinary Joe will always get screwed because neither of those places represent our interests. They represent big business. I could not excited about immigration either. Immigrant labour will still enter the country, but instead of full citizenship, immigrants will be given two or three year visas and they will have less rights. Not good for anybody. No new houses will be built to address the problem of chronic home shortages, no new investment will be made in education or h
