No I wouldn't. And I accept your point. The situation was really weird and I misjudged it. However, I think racial comments are different, there's something really guttural and unacceptable about shouting/swearing about somebody's skin colour in a crowded pub. Would you be ok with that if you were sat with your Mrs/girlfriend and somebody was screaming racial abuse? Particularly if there was a black bloke minding his own business at the bar ? True story. I am not sure if there's a lesson in it or not. Towards the end of last season my Mrs and me went for Sunday lunch .The idea was we would have lunch and then watch the football at 4 o' clock. So the lunch was good and we settled down to watch the football. About half way through the first half I became aware of a bloke f'n this and cunting that at the screen. I was pissed off , as my generation ( I'm just short of 70) generally don' t swear in front of anothrer man's wife. Aye. I used to get whites up there many moons ago.. Used to stink of rabbits there were that many. Had a permission in the North East of England very similar. Farmer used to beg me to control them. Took hundreds every year and then suddenly nothing...RHD.

Used to be crawling with them. Also crawling with complete dickhead keepers. One of them threatended to shoot my dogs and the conversation took a downturn at that point.

I like those old prints of russian aristocratic women with borzois. Top tottie, both human and canine. When I was a kid I used to walk a borzoi for an ' auntie' of mine( thats another story). She was a kind of collector of unwanted dogs and had been given the borzoi. I used to walk him inthe backstreets of dockland Manchester.. Packs of street dogs would gang up on him. It was almost as if they knew he was a toff.☺ He nailed a cat once and nearly killed a terrier like dog which had bugged him.

Or better still a sal/grey. The thing is they will always appeal to a minority of lurcher enthusiasts. They are definitely not the killing machines of other crosses but their temperament is superb, they look stunning and their relaxed outlook is good for the blood pressure. Sometimes they are too relaxed I know and the problem is getting decent deerhound blood instead of the hulking overgrown show ponies that Crufts has produced.

Had a mate I worked with on trawlers. We could earn really good money. When we docked for the weekend he would buy a new suit, buy everybody drinks and get locked up by Saturday night. Without f***ing fail!?. He fell overboard once pissed as a fart. Got him back on board , he was blue all over. Pumped out the water, warmed him up and he was back shovelling queenies within an hour. Tough bloke and great bloke when sober which wasn't often. Nowadays all the young trawlermen are high 24/7.

I hodded in the 70s. I honestly thought it was easy. Youngsters have a natural fitness and resilience . I used to play football, train and run after work and thought nothing of it. Got arthritis in my neck now though. Possibly due to compression of the discs carrying the hod?? If you abuse your body when you are young, it will bite you in the arse when you get older. One thing I've noticed is guys who put a lot of weight have sore knees and end up sat in a chair putting more weight on.Vicious circle. Micky you never owe whoever you pays anything. There are new regulations coming into effect from October with regard to the commercial breeding of dogs. I suspect these regulations have influenced the decision to pack up.
