f****n el. He hasn't replied for half an hour. He has either gently conceded the argument or he's kicking shit out of his pigs until he can come up with a reply to shut me up for good.

Only non premier league side to win the win FA Cup. But there's been a few teams who have won it from the second tier of English football. I like West Ham. Wonderful feeder club for Man Utd.

Get real Wilf. You live in Ireland to escape the consequences of our imperialist past.

You are foolish in deducing that my thinking runs along that path. Check out the number of wars the US have instigated. Were they all just wars? Did Iraq deserve to be flattened for an action masterminded by and funded by Saudis. Did the Vietnamese people deserve to have hundreds of thousands of bombs rain on them? Do you think the yanks won the war for us for nothing? The world is not always as it is presented to you by various US leaning media. There's a question. Is there a news outlet in the UK which does not kow tow to the yanks? Answers on a post card or a postage stamp.

The yanks and the Israelis are the same two headed snake. All hail the world's number one bully and terrorist, the good old US of A.

Yes, you say granting citizenship should not have been part of the deal. But we can't reverse a decision that was made by the great and the good at the time. So what you are saying is piracy and conquest are acceptable. So are Somali pirates in the clear? Might is good and f**k the victims is your message. Is a mugger in the clear for preying on the weak and vulnerable.? As I say, actions have consequences, and we are paying for those arrogant, wrong headed, actions hundreds of years later. All this conquest and colonisation did not benefit our individual ancestors. Our ancestors were red

Me. Its the curse of humanity. Primitive. It holds people and countries back. We don't need priests, vicars, rabbis and mullahs to tell us what's right and wrong. Parasitical force for evil the lot of them.

If we hadn't been such a piratical race and claimed so many lands with" fuzzy wuzzies" and muslims . Then we wouldn't have so many of our beloved 'fellow brits' with completely opposed cultural practices over here. The brits, like the Romans, said to conquered people you now belong to the mother country. Forget your old country you are now British and can join our armed services and have a right to live in the mother country. Piracy and multiculturalism go hand in hand. They are both not good ideas.
-
Wilf you talk a lot of sense a times but ill thought out nonsense at others. This is one of them imo. The brits should have kept their noses out of the holy land and should have had no truck with the gulf wars. We created enemies on both occasions and our people have suffered and continued to suffer as a result. Military actions have consequences......usually for completely blameless and innocent people. The brits' actions aren't always right and it's not treacherous to say so on occasion.

My adrenalin is sky high watching that.

Jesus that is some fish. I've seen a 33 pounder. I've caught probably 600 or so and many more grilse over my lifetime. Had two 19.5 in the same day and eleven salmon and grilse in the same day. In those days I sold them. But the last twenty or so years I've been putting hen fish back. We've got to put them all back now by law. Tbh, I don't mind doing it. They are in big trouble.

I watched the England game last night in a jock pub who were all loudly cheering Samoa. At the end of the match I sang 'England boys we are here. Etc etc. The jocks are easly roused.

I went to a talk by the guy who was responsible for reclaiming the Tyne from decades of industrial pollution. He said once he had cleaned the river up he bought fertilised salmon eggs from everywhere he could get it. This was against all the biologists advice who stipulate that salmon are genetically suited to certain rivers and the gene pool must be kept clear. He said all he knew was that he had returned the river to one of the most productive times salmon rivers in the country. It has a strong spring, summer and autumn run. DC, our boffins say there are plenty of parr and plenty of smo

He has a history of digging deep. Gutsy bloke. Total respect.

What do undividual punters like us really know? We form opinions based on spin and lies peddled by news organisations each with a set agenda. With that proviso,I think the Palestinians have been shat on since the founding of Israel. The Israelis have treated the Palestinians with nazi like repression and broken agreements on land ownership. The Palestinians have retaliated with savagery. No end to this situation as far as I can see.

In 2010, I caught 20 salmon and 20 grilse. It's my main hobby and I would spend maybe 20 hours a week when conditions are good. That would be a normal year. I don't keep records I just remember the 20 grilse 20 salmon. This year 0. My whole stretch,a syndicate, has produced 3 for the season. Catches right throughout Scotland are historically low...disastrous.

Atlantic salmon?

What's the numbers like on your river? Looking at catch figures for Scotland ... its a catastrophe.

Every man and his dog has a theory about climate change. Many people seem to see it as some sort of left wing conspiracy. Yet we accept scientists know their stuff in most other branches of science ( except Covid which many see as another conspiracy). I believe it and I also believe in vaccination against Covid. If that makes me a mug then I'm an alive mug who has seen climate change happen in my lifetime. Not much point in arguing the toss because we then get into the science which not many people fully understand, including me.

The tides are definitely getting bigger. But the change is different compared to different areas. Where I am the earth is still springing up from being flattened by the weight of ice in the ice age. Hence Its only a millimetre per year. Elsewhere in the UK its higher. I have a friend who lives right on the foreshore. He has a conservatory with a panoramic view over the estuary where a few of us get pissed after shooting geese at dusk. Two years back there was a hell of a storm and the tide entered the conservatory whilst we were drinking and surrounded the whole house. First time in living

I didn't know that was possible. Thanks,I'll check it out.

Joking aside, people near me continue to buy houses metres from the high tide line. Houses which to my memory have already flooded. It's as though they don't believe the forecasts. I know the reason for rising seas and global warming is disputed, but nobody disputes tides are getting bigger and rivers flood more frequently. These buyers are either poorly advised, stupid or both.

I went to get tyres for my Honda. I asked the bloke for Michelin as that's what the car came with. He said don't bother mate, they'll be shredded before they wear out, get cheap ones. He said he'd never been so busy. I took his advice but the car tyre inflation warning goes on continually now. It's as though it won't recognise different tyres.

They are very poor. I drove from Scotland to Fareham. With a stay in a hotel midway. There was nothing but delays, restricted speed limits, miles of road sectioned off and deep and dangerous potholes. This was the case even on major roads. The service stations are very basic and old fashioned and there was just not enough capacity on existing roads to keep up with the sheer amount of traffic. I pity truckers and other who have to drive as part of their job. The roads are just not fit for purpose, which is seriously frustrating and must be a major drag on the economy.
