  1. The fife hen was still a crap mum and let them die the bitch, I've managed to let my linnet cock out too who shot off like an arrow and never looked back. If I got as much shagging as him I'd be knocking on the door to get back in. Luckily he filled 2 more nests before he left.
  2. Make sure any you let out are hungry and they know your call = food. If it doesn't know a call it will probably keep flying.
  3. Is beta greyhound 30% protein? It didn't agree with my lot a few years back when I tried it anyway, one got bad dandruff, one got the shining lights and the maddest of the three got even madder
  4. Depends how inbred the hobs parents were imo. You can get away with it so far (look at the fritzls) but when it goes tits up its time for an outcross.
  5. Didn't the dog set off on a scent never to be seen again??? Not something I'd want in a bushing pack.
  6. One bit of advice I'll give you which I've got off others is take that bowl of food out and feed them once a day. You want them piling into the food dish when you call them, either a whistle or shaking the feed tin. Makes it a lot easier when you do let them out.
  7. Loads keep softbills, there's loads of colour variants now too. People keep corvids too. If I were to keep something like that I think I'd get mynah's.
  8. Looking good mate. One thing I'd recommend and nobody seems to do is make a lip a couple of inch high round the ladders or all your shavings end up at the bottom.
  9. They wont breed this year unless kept indoor with artificial light towards the end of the year but that won't be good for them, best to let nature take its course imo.
  10. You still struggling putting rings on then? Can you not see them or do you get the shakes?

  12. Wise words too which are applicable to any livestock
  13. Your as bad as me I went out for canary egg food today and came back 3 hrs later with a pair of competition bred rollers
  14. A couple of you lads have pm's too
  15. I'm just trying to start up myself, I've got 2 rollers (which might not roll), 3 tipplers and 2 free range rollers. My rollers are sitting eggs at the mo and the tipplers I've had a week so I've not got anything I can fly at the mo. Need a few squeakers to start a kit off.
  16. I got one off eBay a few years back and I think it was about 28 quid. It's a bloody good tool too and I've known dogs that were terrified of clippers let you do their nails with this.
  17. He's ok at fishing but I'm still waiting for him to come and sort my roof, he's had his last rabbits off me
  18. A hexagonal one? There's usually loads on eBay.
  19. Shrimps, coal tar soap, creosote and the smell of diesel engine oil reminds me of my dad when I was a kid when the fat old git used to build wagons. I could just eat shrimp butties now.
  20. After a season which seemed like a complete waste of time and an increase in family size I see myself drawn back to where it all started for me ratching about with 1 dog, air gun and a ferret doing a bit of allsorts. It's just unfortunate really and it churns my stomach to think about it that some of the others will have to make way for the jack of all trades mut that will have a bash at most things yet be a good guard and family dog.
  21. Was it a Bengal? I caught a Bengal in a cage trap this winter at work which was lucky I'd seen it before the keeper and the dogs did so it got reunited with its owners.
