Cold calling, blackpowder and rabbit.

Honestly, I don’t know . I can’t say I’ve felt any massive benefit, but I don’t think it can do any harm to try . One thing I swear by is my copper bracelet with magnets in . I suffered with a bad back and cyatica and ultimately had an operation for a slIpped disc , I also have had a hip resurfacing operation. I was on ani inflammatory tablets and powerful pain killers and felt like crap . Someone said to try a copper bracelet . Now when you are in pain and I’m not talking about a bit of an ache but the kind of pain that wears you down and effects you wellbeing. You will try anythin -
I’ve seen one like this before a long time ago ...... it’s a melanistic partridge.

Old age is a cruel mistress my friend, I take a cod liver oil capsule everyday, supposed to be good for the joints . You would know it to look at me as I hobble around . I had to laugh the other day , I was talking to the guy who owns the estate I work on when the tractor driver ( who is notoriously work shy ) walked past, and stuck on the back of his coat was a snail . Quick as a flash , the boss remarked “ Adam, he caught up with you “! -
Eventually got it

Well done mate , one less chicken killer . I wonder about these electric fences . They just don’t stop foxes getting at the birds . The unit I look after has a really powerful 10 strand fence . They just run through it . They have the”freedom food “ (RSPCA) in all but name , checking the place to make sure that everything is done to keep them secure from predators, so people like me don’t have to kill foxes . People want free range , but these farms will never be 100% safe from fox kills . -

Good news with the job .? Hope it works out for you . Just a thought, if your powder won’t burn , you could always “ fix bayonets “!!!? -
Weekend at Bernies is a classic ???

Not a film , but one of those Netflix series. Just finished “Unbelievable “ . The Mrs was watching it and I said my usual “ what’s this sh@te ?” Anyway I got dragged into it and thought it was good . So if anyone is looking for something to watch on Netflix and like me saw it advertised but didn’t fancy it , give it a go .

Good going Stavross and FH ? -
I think it’s probably Gypsies who don’t like wrapping them in clay and rolling them in the embers of their camp fire and prefer to either sauté them with onions or roast them on a spit . ?

I’ve honestly never had a problem with anyone because of my hunting and shooting activities. I keep myself to myself. There is a chap up the road from me and you only have to look at his house and his beaten up discovery to know he is into shooting . He only ever wears realtree pattern clothing . BASC sticker in the windscreen. Pheasant feeders and drinkers in the front garden a weathervane with a man with a dog and gun . It’s almost like he is saying “ this is who I am , f@ck you if you don’t like it . I don’t know if he has any problems as I don’t talk to him if I can help it . But it takes

Looks a good size fox that !?

Interesting write up Si , I’d like to read more of them . Why are you worried about getting your windows put through? That’s why we keep it to user names . I don’t want my name and picture out there for that reason .

In fairness, the gangs involved in the rural crime in our area are British, and from a few well known families. The police know who they are and are trying their best . And have made some significant arrests.

What successive governments have failed to grasp , and what the soppy left wing hippies don’t want to see , is that those people arriving in their dinghies on our shores come from a very different world to us . Probably war torn parts of the Middle East , Eastern Europe or downtown Mogadishu where life has little value. They don’t have our values or respect for property and life .

Anyone who buys knock off gear is just as guilty as the the guy who stole it in the first place . He reckons the stolen tools are being shipped abroad? Doesn’t surprise me , we are plagued by OCGs targeting Quads and ATVs and tractors . A neighbouring farmer was contacted by police to tell him that a tractor he had stolen a year before turned up in Eastern Europe. When I go out in the morning it takes me ages to unlock my ATV , I’ve got to turn the alarm off , undo the padlock and chain securing it to the floor , then two padlocks on a barrier in front of the door and

Anyone who wants to have a moan about having to wear a face mask tomorrow ...... it could be worse!!!

You may laugh, but I remember getting a tape with various calls on it and playing them through something not too dissimilar to the picture , off the bonnet of the Landrover . As I remember it didn’t work as well as just squeaking by hand so we soon gave it up . I did think at the time that I was quite “cutting-edge “.??

I know this is probably in the wrong thread , put have any of you tried this beer , it’s delicious !!

Fair play . Looking forward to hearing how you get on with it . If I was in the market for a new digisight, I would definitely be looking at one of those . Mark Ripley has tested them on YouTube, but he was probably paid to use it and show it on his channel. He said if you are looking for a “no frills “ digisight, then he would recommend one .
-
The sightmark wraith looks a good bit of kit for the money! It’s colour in daylight, which is a massive improvement from my digisight, . Be interested to hear an impartial review on it .
-
If you are up for testing your gun try which it likes best . I have happily found that 50grains shoot well in my rifle , but it’s difficult to tell as it’s got a digisight on it and doesn’t lend itself to range work . I am concentrating on the .243 for daylight shooting.
-
Try 50 grain vmax . Start low and work a load up , ( ladder test) keep your eye on the cases , and don’t be afraid to go over what’s in the book . Vihtavuori are it would seem very conservative with their max load . I’ve read some of the old posts on SD and got some data off there . Be careful though as the powder has changed and the data is different for the old stuff .

I use HPS TR in Newent near Gloucester and if they haven’t got what I want I try Spud 1967 . A knowledgeable and helpful chap who is usually on the end of the phone and when he says it will be there it is .

I really like the vmax bullets for devastating kills . They really do some damage . However I use Sierra 55grain game heads in the .223 if I’m shooting in long grass or rape stubble as I find them a bit more robust and probably less likely to disintegrate at the slightest touch . But who knows what really happens down range ? It’s all in my head and I just feel more confident with them in some situations. I only got the Sierra Blitzkings because I was advised to load a 70grain in .243 as they are supposed to be the most stable and coefficient ( not really sure what that means, I’m
