Alaskan Husky is just the name given to the crossbred sled dogs used in Alaska, nothing to do with malamutes though I dare say there's some malamute blood in them

What are you doing with Irish flag, we never declared war on Germany, the irish only ever had one war 9 hundred of war. I'm a poor confused soul I grew up in England and men from both sides of my family joined the British army to fight the Nazis so I feel comfortable saying "we" when talking about WW2

dogs will genreally let go of the other dog as you lift them off the ground iam not telling the lad too grab the dogs legs and pull them so hard it pops the joint out iam telling him too lift the dog up the way then grab the scruff taking control of the head it some times gives you that split second of a dog releasing a grip and for you too take control off the dog but each too there own you have your ways I have myne To be fair I'm talking about bulldogs while I assume you're talking lurchers (fair enough, it is the lurcher section ) and your average lurcher probably would release when you

All these methods of fannying about to avoid getting a nip just cause more damage and prolong the fight Lift two determined dogs off the ground by the back legs when they're in a hold and you have two dogs ripped up with the added bonus of possible injuries to their joints.

That last bit is so important but easily forgotten. Its no good taking a dog and running the arse off it then taking it home to be pestered by other dogs or kids.

If you haven't got a breakstick just hold their head still in a headlock and pry their mouth open with your hands, assuming the other owner has a hold of their dog. The most important thing is securing their heads so they can't shake and do real damage, unless they hit a major blood vessel two dogs just holding each other won't really be damaged at all beyond a few puncture wounds. You just have to get stuck straight in and hope the other owner doesn't just stand around like a fanny, splitting 2 dogs on your own is no easy task.

Great news pal Bet they're just glad to be back home where they belong

Fitter Type English Bull Terrier
BGD replied to gull terrier's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
Are you unfamiliar with the concept of line breeding? ... . Other than the legal situation to stop people owning one, is there any task a staff can do that a pitbull couldnt do better? Be a pet After having a bulldog as a house pet for the last few years I don't think I'll ever do it again, far too highly strung for my liking. They'll stay out in the yard where they belong But I probably will have Staffords in the house again they just fit into home life much better in my experience, seem to have more of an "off switch". Maybe that's down to the lines I've kept though, who knows -
You can only get out what you put in that goes for diet and conditioning As for diet you have to see what works for your dog but you can't go wrong with fresh flesh and bone, mix it up with different cuts and types of meat and include plenty of organ and tripe.

The British aristocracy loved Hitler, they just had to keep it quiet once we declared war

That Black and Tan one ,,in with the English setter...to be honest it's back in 08 when we was there, and I've forgot ,,but I think that kennel was his pets.... Cracking day there though,,,had a go at mushing ,,,the mrs and daughter sat in the sled,,covered in reindeer furs,,,and I was stood on the back driving,,,great experience I didn't really notice them as was looking at the setter, lolI was thinking the first pic and White dog in second from bottom. That white one wouldn't look out of place on a beef farm at all

No he won't. if he's complaining that every topic turns into a another god topic, he will be hoisted aloft and praised by his peers. Anyway, not crying, just stating the obvious. Honestly I'm the last person that should be complaining about threads getting dragged off topic into massive arguments but at least with the Muslim threads they start out shit, the whole stupid religion debate has ruined some genuinely interesting topics recently

Like most breeds bred for a real job purity of breeding means feck all Greats pics TOMO

You know I've always said I agree with any animal testing as long as it's done for a justifiable reason and always thought it hypocritical not to include dogs in that but your comments about how it's abusing the trust in us they've evolved to have has given me a lot of food for thought, you may well have changed my opinion on the matter Maybe it's the evolutionary link that gives us such a visceral reaction to abuse of dogs more so than other animals?

Pretty sure the only thing I said wasn't possible was doing away with borders under the current system? As for saying it's a dream well I'm just being honest and realistic, do you see a global Communist revolution happening anytime soon? Doesn't mean I won't be working my whole life towards making it closer to reality...

I don't use any firewall or AV software, if you run adblock and are smart about your browsing you don't really need them TBH. Waste of money if you pay for them and most of the free ones are worse than the malware you're trying to block!
-
I'm sure they're using the dogs for a reason and not just because they're easy to come by or whatever, huge amounts of research and justification has to go into any test on animals. We do tend to get a bit overly emotional when it comes to dogs, just look at any thread about eating dog meat.

Owners should get the bill Does my fecking head in cat owners thinking they have the right to let their pets wander where they please shitting all over and committing genocide on the local wildlife
-
As long as the animals are treated as humanely as possible I'm not opposed to using them for medical research. Wouldn't work. You need healthy specimens which are representative of their species. We call those convicts sicko's for a reason, there's something wrong with their wiring IMHO. Even the dogs have to be specially bred for use in testing, the lines of Beagles they use go back decades

http://www.pets4homes.co.uk/classifieds/1001750-german-shepherd-lurcher-puppies-gainsborough.html There you go,interestingly enough if you google there was litter bred in 2012 and a dog supposedly of this breeding went through a rescue in 2008 ? That's a nice stamp of Deerhound but why on earth would they use that big lump of a GSD when there's plenty of lean and racey types about? Oh, it's because that's what they had knocking about the backyard isn't it

People just don't take the time to slow down and appreciate what's going on around them these days. Even a little suburban garden can be alive with all sorts of weird and wonderful creatures, you just need to take the time to look

I had someone telling me British wildlife isn't "exciting" like you get abroad the other day. I'd love to beat him over the head with these pics. Fantastic shots of an amazing creature

And then confirmation bias kicks in and you start thinking all travellers (or whatever group) are wronguns 'cause you only take notice of the wronguns

Those Alaskan Huskies are what I'd use in a lurcher breeding, they're seriously impressive dogs and most of them have a good helping of sighthound and also foxhound already in them. Can't imagine a cross with better feet and wind than one of those put over a decent coursing dog
