I like to split the pies open and after drowning in vinegar+pepper I stuff a dollop of mash into each pie to soak up some of filling.

Reckon I'll be making myself some pie & mash in a bit thanks to this thread. Homemade just isn't the same as from a proper pie shop though

I've been bitten by a pet rabbit before, feck me I've never known pain like it from such a small animal, got me right on the soft bit between thumb and finger. Never been bitten by one in the field though so don't worry too much

Used to see the odd Chow around quite often back in the 80s/90s but I couldn't even tell you the last time I saw one in the flesh. Seems everyone has either a bull breed of some description or a tiny handbag dog these days, very little variety.

Shar-peis are fecking weird dogs. I knew this bird who had one and I swear it had OCD, she never had to pick up anything around the house because the dog would go around putting rubbish in the bin and just generally tidying up putting things back in the there place. Was never trained to do anything like that just learnt from watching her around the house. They're known as clean dogs as whole house training at very early age etc but this one took it to a whole new level Serious one person dogs too, this one never so much as came up to me for a stroke in all the years I knew him.

Like all primitive breeds pack structure means a lot more to them than more modern breeds, unlike most dogs even when they've been put in their place they'll keep challenging it. Fine if you're a grown man capable of dominating such a powerful dog, different story if you're weak or a child though. You see the same problems with huskies and malamutes etc but to a lesser extent.

I've known 3 Akitas be PTS after biting little kids they had grown up with, one poor wee boy got a full mouth bite across the face he was in and out of surgery for years Really would think long and hard before bringing one into a home with kids, be real careful about the breeder you choose and do a hell of a lot of research into the line.

Lol why not it's how they are trained my friend has Akita x malamute and that dog is not a dog ild like to meet anywhere to be honest My mate had one I was with that dog nearly every day since it was a pup and every time me or someone was around that dog he would just stare at you waiting for you to do something wrong you could tell he wanted to bite someone. A coal yard up the road from me had them and some crossed with Rottweilers they were the most aggressive dogs I ever seen thank fook they never got a hold of anyone they definitely would of killed them My wife has been telling me f

Have to say hats off to the copper that didn't give up trying to find the next of kin, would of been a real shame to leave them rusting way in some evidence room.

The Japanese Akita was kept as a general purpose farm dog, did a bit of guarding a bit of hunting etc. The American Akita comes from Jap Akitas brought back by G.Is after WW2 and mixed with all sorts of other breeds (GSDs, Rottis etc). The American usually has more of a solid, guardian temperament and the Japs are really weird, aloof dogs, a very primitive breed similar to the other Asian Spitz type breeds. Personally I wouldn't own either of them, even the more solid American type are still unpredictable b*****ds that will be fine one minute and hanging off your face the next

Interesting information sandymere and I am certainly not going to argue with you about this topic... Just curiously do you know of many cases of kids who haven't been vaccinated and suffered because of it? The reason I ask is because I know a few who didn't vaccinate and have never seemed to have any problems. For the record my kids were vaccinated at birth but I have had doubts whether I did the right thing by them. Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts.
