That will live long in the memory! great sport squirrel shooting. If you have a feeder up, get there before first light, get settled in and STAY PUT. Don't go and collect the fallen, leave them - other squirrels will come and look over the dead ones - barking at them, which in turn calls more in.

Filling Pressure On A Daystate Huntsman Classic
Acuspell replied to dwibzy's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Actually - the SWP and the sweet spot are two very different things! I suggest you try running it at 180 BAR (and no more) down to 120 BAR - get it zeroed and shooting pellet sized groups at 30 yards first - by running it at the sweet range of pressure. Then, once you know what the rifle will do through the middle pressure range, fill it to 200 BAR and I bet the first 20 shot are all over the place - then as the pressure drops back to around the 180BAR mark, they will suddenly be bang on target and all going down the same hole again......until you get to about 130 BAR, when they will sudde -
So, reading between the lines.....are you hunting la Ragondin with yours? I saw them in Deux-Sevres, near Poitevin.

Squirrels Wanted Gone On Permission
Acuspell replied to ryanod90's topic in General Airgun Discussion
Feeders work - but to be honest traps owrk far better, as traps work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Live traps, so if you trao a red it can be released and only greys despatched (air rifle at short range, head shot. You can trap them AND shoot wanderers witht he air rifle. A shotgun is more effective mind, because you can hit moving targets. To that end, feed stations work, because you can intercept the greys as they come to the feeder - so will reds, but in that case, if you get more red than grey interest MOVE the feeder. 25 yards is far enough, they are bold little chaps. A couple of mine: 65lb blue takne on heavy spinning gear about 4 miles off The Lizard. Pike from the Lakes, 23lbs, caught fly fishing for them. This one was about 22lbs, also fly fishing Black bream, 3lb 12oz

I didn't mean to make you feel uncomfortable. I just thought if things were awkward, I could possibly help out. The offer still stands. Now stop pratting about on here and get weaving on that rifle rack!

And you won't!! Has anybody ever read a negative review in any gun mag?? Even the hatsan crap gets rave reviews. No they don't. You have to learn to read what is written - they won't say "this is rubbish", they will say "suitable for back garden plinking" - what ISN'T written is as powerful as what is. If it doesn't say it is good for long range Rocky Mountain Elk shooting - then it isn't......diplomacy is used, but if you actually READ the reports in Airgun Shooter, they do point out the pitfalls or where things can be improved. Nigel actually had a rifle tuned, a cheap rifle, and it

The Theoben SLR98 isn't a bad looker either - and with 7 shots on tap, already loaded, it is fast on follow ups. The accuracy from the probe fed pellets is superb. As folks have said, a good shot can make 1/2" groups at 45 yards. The Anschutz match barrel helps! Sighting in target - the final result is in the red. Not bad from 40 yards for a .22 Out in the field I love it. It makes hunting so satisfying.

Roger - why can't you get out to shoot? If it is a transport problem, I will drive down and take you out. I am in Uttoxeter, but have a friend who lives near Thame, so if you are stuck ask away and when I am not working I will come down and take you out - a gesture like yours deserves some return Karma.

The .20 cal version is even better! i can only echo what has been said - the Huntsman is beautifully balanced, not too long so it handles easily in the woods - fast to the shoulder and target acquisition. 12ft-lbs is 12ft-lbs whatever muzzle it comes out of, so the power is the same. The Huntsman barrels are very accurate though - mine will stack pellets at 35 yards nto one congealed lump of lead. You can't ask for fairer than that - except my Rapid does the same at 50 yards, but is pig ugly!

I prefer the Nikon Prostaff BDC reticule. The small dots on most scopes get lost in the background when it gets dimpsy - the Nikon see through circles stand out clear as a bell. The lenses are a good match for some MUCH more expensive scopes - mine are only 5 minutes behind a Schmidt & Bender and control flare and internal reflections brilliantly - i can still see to shoot with the sun in the corner of the lens - no whiteout or flare that masks the target or reticule. The 4-12 I haven't tried, because the 3-9 suits me as I shoot on 6x anyway. The 1" tube and 40mm objective provide better d

I ould advise AGAINST .177 in FAC - the amount of air you will use has to be taken into account. .177, even at 10 gns, is not very efficient. If you can get FAC and you want a Ranger, get the 40ft-lbs .22 version (same rifle, but the .22 runs the same velocity with heavier pellets) - you should be able to shoot a grape at yards with that. The problem with .177 is the physical limit of the pellet. I know the Koreans are making very heavy pellets, but they HAVE to be long to get the weight in them. Long projectiles need more stabilising and as they slow down they start to yaw sooner than a

Super shooting. Well done - good pictures too. Your wife's Blackberry is ripe!

Nice bunnies Mole. We need a few around here. Soon be squirrel time again!

Ghillies - Pneumatic Ballistics designed and make them. They also designed the new BSA magazine for them, the one that works! They are NON indexing, you use the pellet as the index, so they always line up perfectly - and yes, they do them in .177 and .22 - my .20 version is actually a .177 that they drilled out for me, but left the .177 on the casing! Consider the price of TWO standard magazines (for 10 shot) and then compare the price of one of these, because it is the capacity of two! Obviously, if you want a 17 shot Rapid magazine they are only about £45, and you can still get them....but w

With summer coming to an end, the harvest underway I have started taking the dogs round the headlands and to see if there are any rabbits around anywhere - very few! We have poked out a couple, but literally, we covered 2 miles (took the GPS with me, just out of interest) before we saw the first one. After tracing 6 miles of hedges they had found TWO. Tigs nearly caught the second one as it dashed across the old railway track. I picked a load of blackberries and we saw a couple of squirrels in a big, old oak - throwing acorns at us! It fired upmy interest after the summer of fishing. This mor

Try tying on a small jig head hook - a depth charge version of a Czech nymph to get ino those holes.
-
Try using a drift float instead - pop bottle or milk bottle. tie a length of line on it (whatever depth you want to fish the worm or minnow) th eline only wants to be 6 feet really. Toss it in the lake at the windward end, let it drift the length and collect them in the morning - they wll have blown ashore and done their fishing in the meantime - same system can be used for fishing a live mackerel through a tide race for bass......start them from the boat one side of the turbulan water, moor round the outside of the overfalls, collect the "floats" as they come through on the tide.

Do you know, the rest of us were being deliberately cryptic to avoid it getting any more attention than it already gets.

Making Bait For Saltwater Fishing In Sea

Commercial bread - Warburtons! Itis stickier than "proper" bread. Just fold it round the hook and then pinch the outside so the middle bit stays fluffy. What are you fishing for? -
Nikon Prostaff Bdc Or Mamba Lite Scb
Acuspell replied to Brackenharley's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
As above. The Prostaff seems simple, but it belies the simply superb lenses that are crisp, high contrast and handle flare brilliantly - they also have the best light transmission of any sub £300 scope BAR NONE. I have tested many scopes for shooting magazines, here and in Europe and the Nikon are as good as scopes 5x the price, but without fancy gadgets or fancy badges! The 3-9x40 gives a good 40 minutes extra shooting time over the MTC Viper (which is their higher end). -
They are a good, stable pellet - get out in the field and put 20 through at 30, 40 and 45 and see how they go for you.
