Canadas were taken off schedule 3 a couple of years ago. There is no "goose license" and never has been. If you have permission, or legal authority, to shoot wildfowl on the and you are shooting you can shoot any wildfowl, in season and in England and Wales, if using a shotgun, with non-toxic shot only. That includes woodcock (non toxic!) Wildfowl season is from 1st Sept - 31st Jan inland and 20th Feb on the foreshore (beach!) Canada geese are no longer restricted to any form of close season. You do NOTneed non toxic pellets to shoot them because you ae not using a shotgun, the lead sh

That is a lovely 77 you have there. You can use it too!

A standard break barrel bowls them over too - thin skull. hit them behind the eye and they go down like anything else. Easier to hit in the right spot than a pigeon!

The dogs were asking to go, so I took them for a walk around the fields. I wasn't intending to shoot, but wasn't going empty handed so took the .20 Rapid with me, just for company. We saw a load of pheasants that the dogs put up out of the hedges. They also nosed a handful of woodcock out, Fly found 3 and Tigs, the pup, found 2 on his own - properly too, scented them and dived in to push them out or try to catch them, I don't know which. As we approached the lake I could hear the geese....wretched things, Canadas. There were a fair few back in. I chased them off last year but the blighters

Have you filled the one in each end of the barrel? BUY BRITISH, MAN.

As promised, some pictures - if anyone recognises the night vision, as to make and model, please tell me - so I can find out about batteries and stuff! The guy who gave it to me has lost the paperwork and there is no name on the unit. A TRUE ambidextrous thumbhole stock - even the cut out for the bolt to be swapped over! Next time I go I'll try and get some pictures of the results.

Possibly Selling Fac Airguns
Acuspell replied to berty bassett's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
I hate to say it, but FAC airguns are worth LESS than standard limit rifles. The reason for this is simplly the laws of economics - fewer buyers means less pressure on the available offerings. Your Theoben break barrel is probably worth £200 at most. The Career is possibly of interest to someone for a project. Again, around £300 max. harsh, I know, but the number of people after an FAC rifle is miniscule compared to those after limited rifles - and then out of those few they have to want what you have got. -
I haven't a clue and I have searched for some pictures of it...just typed Nv into the google bar and trawled the pictures that are posted. I didn't see it there at all. It is a "round" lens housing, not a square one. I phoned the NV guys in N. Iren and tried to describe it to them for ID purposes, because I have no idea where to put a new battery! UNLESS it runs off the 3v cell that goes in the infra red illuminator. The Lazer designator/illuminator has its own 3v cell. I can't find any other "hole" to put a battery into. The guys at the NV place said to take some pictures and they would ID it

I have been on a lucky roll just recently. I was asked by my pest controller friend if I would do him a favour and take care of a rat infested feed mill. This was not going to be such an easy task, the last pest chap hadn't been in since July, so the rats had a free reign for 6 months. They have become huge, both in size and in population numbers and because there is so much feed around, they won't take bait - he has tried at least half a dozen different types, but they just don't need it, so don't take it. The effort required is going to be more than the job is worth to him, hence why he aske

Interestingly, although the FTT are 2gn LIGHTER, the drop over 40 yards are very similar in both....I use the JSB Exacts as they carry more downrange energy and are lessprone to the wind, marginally.

Have a look at the BEST FITTINGS website. Everything you could possibly want for filling a PCP is there, and at the most competitive prices (unless you get given it). S10 is a GREAT rifle. The power curve is a bit more pronounced than on more modern rifles, that is something you will have to find for yourself.NOBODY (other than the previous owner) can tell you. Fill to about 180bar, shoot at a consistent target right through the pressure range down to about 110bar. Notice when thepoint of impact starts to drop off - it will drop more at further range sooner, so if you do this at 40 ya

Each rifle will show a preference for one particular type of pellet (you may be lucky and get a barrel that will tolerate a few). Try different pellets until you find one brand and style that will put them on the target so close that 10 shots create one ragged hole- EVERY Huntsman should be doing that, but they won't all do it with the same pellet. All of the pellets suggested are good ones - but mine shoots perfectly with H&N FTT, but broadcasts JSB Exacts all over the range. Nothing wrong with exacts, just a mis-match of barrel and pellet. FTT it will cloverleaf a full magazine at 45 yar

T R Robb Tuning Kit
Acuspell replied to secretagentmole's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
So lets get this right...you buy a gun, then disassemble it and fill it full of "good bits" to make it work right. That is like buying a Harley Davidson...after buying the bike, you then spend a fortune on aftermarket parts to make it run and stop like it should have out of the factory. What is the stock like? They look a bit plain to me. -
20 cal is brilliant...but those pellets look dodgy! What sort of groups do you get from the pump up?
-
We could have had so much fun with this one..... Too late, you have told the truth now.
-
What, a bit like this? Bedlington whippets though....bred them for 30 odd years. The above advice does work...but ii didn't know you had a dog. Just have it under control for what you want to do - mooching they hunt and catch (occaisonally), out with the shotgun, they work cover. Out with the rifle they stalk with me.

Anyone Wash And Lube For Hunting?
Acuspell replied to salop sniper's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
I think if you buy good pellets to start with, then simply weighing them and keeping them in batches of the same weight is all it takes. Shoot all the heavy ones when ratting (not such great range to worry about the difference). The light ones for pigeon roosting or feralsand the main, middling ones for where it really matters. -
Twink Mkii & Weihrauch Hw 100 Silencer
Acuspell replied to Fieldsports's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Twink Mk2 on my Huntsman....superb. Shorter than the HW and more effective. PLUS it is made by a man in a shed in Nottinghamshire - so I am supporting the little man and keeping my money in the country. (Although Ady cannot be called "little",not really!) I am going to see if I can persuade him to make the inner baffle washers as a reflex design, if they were angled backwards a bit, dished, then I think it would be even more effective - and mine is a .22 on a .20, so larger space around the pellet reducing the efficiency of the sound deadening. If he will play with dished baffles and drill th -
The other thing is, once you have an FAC you can drive the larger, heavier pellets at the same velocity as .177 - realistically you cannot take air above 975fps and retain accuracy. Physically you can go supersonic, but the noise is horrendous LOUDER than a .22LR without a moderator. The stability of the pellet in flight becomes compromised and accuracy is non existent. 950 is as fast as you really want to go - and you can do that with any calibre. To get the weight into a .177 pellet it HAS to become long, or dense, or both. None of which is conducive to effective terminal performance. It won

It should be called the 'Chartham moderator' then.

Now that is a bun fight! Entertaining though...Wurz holds his own over there though. I have given up.

Isn't Knaresborough in Yorkshire? yes were not all that tight up here I was told Yorkshiremen were Scots with the generosity kicked out of them.
