    The machine nets catch fine if they are made correctly like this one was and not by me but so do the home made ones But I do find the home made ones very nice to handle plus you have the satisfaction side of things. So my favourite net is the home made because it feels nice and I made it so I am slightly biased even if it is far from perfectly made But they both work fine

    I am double knotting a long net at the moment because for the life of me I have no luck with single knots and I want to be happy with the net when I finish in 2017

    If some thing happens you need to know who it was and the only thing that will do that is cctv and a half tidy dvr and camera will about cost about 150 but it would be worth it. Other wise you wont have a clue who it was and there won't be sod all you can do or prove

    When I replace my cocker I was thinking of a terrier for ferreting as my best ferreting dog as a youngster was a jack Russell But in them days if he went to ground and you had to dig some thing out it wasn't the end of the world. But now a days I dont think I would get one because badgers are ever where and in some very public places so that would be a disaster waiting to happen

    same as ferrets really every time you pop them down a hole it could be the last time you see them but that's what they are for and enjoy

    I know which is the top and bottom well most of the time but when I go to peg the bottom line some times it is easy to get a mesh caught (at night) as well which gives you a tight spot Also your running lines should be in a big loop not separated

    Lamping is extremely risky for a dog lost my best luncher one night and if I ever get another I will be extremely careful where I go with the lamp

    I would agree with that makes it much more enjoyable if the ferret is happy to be handled by you and you work as a team rather than a ferret that is nervous of being handled and you have too watch your fingers all the time

    I would agree with that I am sure they have and do exist. But when you think what is required it would be one clever dog. It would have to nip around the edge of the field then quarter the field back to you and also not give chase or miss any ground and all in darkness. I could picture a sheep dog type being a good bet as that is they way they work sheep but a big ask. Unless you just meant for company in which case I would leave it at home. Stealth is key

    Early days for me but I think I prefer the bigger stuff because it is easier too differentiate between the bottom line and netting when I am pegging the bottom line if that makes sense

    Fog and damp misty weather do not seem to work well for me

    I don't hear people say that and it would not make sense any way. But people do seem too think its odd eating them like there is some thing unclean about them. But they are happy to eat chicken yet if they saw a chicken farm i think they would have a rethink if animal well fare bothered them at all

    Some thing else too consider is do you want some thing that could well drop to ground on a fox or worse a badger. Badgers are every where now a days and a tidy terrier may well decide to have a go which could be awkward

    Only ever had one on the lamp but it gave the dog a dam good run. Up and down back and forward around and around felt like it went on for ever. The dog was getting slower and slower through exhaustion but kept going then eventually nailed it. Few times it nearly went out of range of the beam but all ways turned and came back so luck was on our side that night Was very proud of the dog

    Remember trying to shoot pheasants and rabbits with a home made bow an arrow when I was about 8 unsuccessfully. To many westerns I think

    As soon as they like I would say as long as they don't knacker them selves out too much if your after rabbits any way

    I believe it is all down to Desire I agree some dogs will go through any thing to get there with out considering the consequences that's why the owner has to do that for the dog if possible. Some just lose there nerve. I never used too enter my dog in any big earth's if I could avoid it
