  1. I've got an HW100 and a .22lr HW60J - the rimmie to me (and lamping pard) is quieter.
  2. or another HW100 FAC version - less to get used to as you've already got a sub 12er. I've shot around horses in paddocks a bit with rimmie and been fine with no issues, but obviously you have to be very aware of where the horses are at all times. I'd say go for both FAC air and .22lr, the worse they can say is no. In our area (TVP) they've started asking for new rimmie fac applicants to go out with a short term mentor to gain at least a bit of practical experience before they will grant an fac. I don't think this is exactly legal on their part, but I'm 'mentoring' someone else from N

    Red kite ?

don't know the answer to that one Socks, but we have plenty of buzzards and red kites here in North Bucks, very numerous in the last few years. I have seen a lot less kestrels around since they turned up. Inter-guild predation?
  8. Spot on Tegater. Even as an adult, it makes an FAC or SGC holder less likely to indulge in irresponsible practises. My tickets have made me 'wind my neck in' a couple of times now, and I'd like to think I'm a patient and level-headed chap.
  9. What's in a shed? In mine - old motorbike (about to be ebayed), chainsaws, bench saws, bushwacker, lawnmower etc and plenty of spiders to keep the mrs out. Oh and the obligatory workbench and more tools than I need (I'm a hoarder).
  10. i wish Seriously though, once you've sussed how the washing machine works, and can iron a shirt, what would you need a woman in the house full time for? You won't starve, shops are full of food, admittedly it's hard with only 1 wage, but then there is only 1 person spending it. 2 years on my own now, not looking to change that anytime soon! im a modern man, i could survive withoot the wife, its the kids i couldnae be without noo kinell! You can have my kids too if you want!
  11. I remember my first pigeon clearly, coming between some trees at about 20 yards shot it instinctively and it folded, landing a few yards from me, stone dead. The gun was an ill-fitting Sable sxs 12b and I'd missed a few crossing birds at improbable long range before that opportunity. I'll never forget the feeling I had when I saw that bird fold.
  12. I did once find a plastic pellet in the fur of a bunny I shot.
  13. I used to be really puritanical about perfect clean kills, and still believe if you aren't sure your shot will kill the creature instantly, take your finger off the trigger. That said, sometimes (very, very rarely) I've had a bunny bolt as the shot is released. Naturally, this makes for a fast follow up shot (or legging over to it to issue the coup de grace), worse case scenario is the creature gets away with a flesh wound. Not what anybidy wants, but, just occasionally it will happen to the best shot in the world. For the record, I genuinely can't remember the last animal that needed a seco
  14. you can shoot any land deemed suitable by the chief constable for that area and that calibre unless things have changed check with your local fire arms dept none of the land has been passed no one has ever shot on there with rifles its only a 17 hmr i have If you make an enquiry with your firearms dept for your area, they will let you know what the land is cleared for. If it hasn't previously been cleared, they have to send an feo to look at the land to assess it. Make enough enquiries and they will soon open your ticket because 1. you're becoming a nuisance, taking up their time and 2.
  15. yeah, that litter will totally flood the market. Is there a market for questionable crossed?

  20. All of my dogs are chipped, potlickers too. If anything happens, I want them back - just be mindful of the law, but hey, accidents do happen when we walk our pet dogs don't they?
