  1. I'm looking forward to seeing some of the decent people on here shoot their wares after some offers on here. It would be interesting to shoot their guns and see if there's a kit difference that makes the difference of a long range .22 group - maybe some barrels are tighter than others, or a key tolerance somewhere else? I'm a very competent shot, nothing more or less, and if its not a kit difference, then I'd like to learn from someone who can extract more form the .22lr than I can. Maybe I've just had bad examples of rimfires? It will be nice to see and take the empirical view. Cheers
  2. 75 yard kills on rabbits. Why the flip did I buy a rimfire? BEst of luck with the sale. D.
  3. Hi folks, today was a day well-spent with my 6 month old pup, Roxy. On a new permission I've picked up I took her out to get used to ignoring lambs running around (theres about 1000 of them), more time getting used to gun fire and hopefully retrieving shot quarry. A bit of fence jumping practise too, if enough time. Started the day helping out another permission owners wife with her errant border terriers (Roxy takes everything in her stride and was a great training aide for the poorly socialised terriers) and spent a bit of time doing some remedial training with her. Then
  4. Just got my first customer, and 600 acres for 'shoot bunnies, foxes and whatever else you want' permission :)

  5. I paid £68 for my harris a few years ago. Don't really use it on the air rifle - hmr only. With practise, you can be stable enough without a bipod at all airgun ranges IMHO. I bought the one that doesn't tilt, slide (or generally wobble about the place) as I like my 'pod to be rock solid and not easily variable. A really high quality item the Harris, faultless. Cheers Duncan
  6. I think ammo is more of a handicap than the .22 rifles. My cz's both preferred eley subs too. If I end up your way, I'll get in touch riflehunter. Atb Duncan
  7. Hit the nail on the head there Dunc. Not many people can hit a £2 coin consistently at 100, let alone a £1 coin in the field. In fact there was recently a Military, Special forces, Police comp that was open to teams from across Europe, and all they had to do was knock the centre out of a £2 coin, from a 5 degree angle at 100 metres. Guess what? Hardly any competitor did it! The calibre they where using..... .308/7.62. Paper punching is one thing, field shooting is another. I have pulled off some spectacular shots with a rifle, but only when I have had the time to get into the prone
  8. pound coin sized brain, or 2 pound coin sized engine room. Piss Easy for the hummer. Chancey by .22lr. My hummer can cloverleaf at 125 yards - can't say the same for my rimmie.
  9. bollocks I'm comfortable in my knowledge of the limitations of my rifles and haven't seen any evidence to change my view. I've seen groups from .22lr at 100 yards and I'm not impressed. As for suggestions I should go back to air rifles (another highly valued tool in the box), I think smacks of childishness.
  10. Shot my first 200 yard magpie today :)

  11. You're absolutely right, we all bow down to your expertise and amazing marksmanship. After all, none of us wants to look a monkey Forgive the slight sarcasm, but I think I'll reserve the long range stuff for a more appropriate calibre. I prefer to hit quarry that are comfortably within the capabilities of the rifle I'm using rather than pushing a rifle to the edge of its limits and risking a less than humane kill. With the .17hmr, 100 yards is zero range - so if I'm after 100 yard plus bunnies, the .22lr stays in the gun cabinet.
  12. gawd, its like rubbing the lamp lol! I generally believe what I see more than what I hear about
  13. Just bear in mind that there are a lot of shitters out there and those who have little legs when counting out their yardages. As Paulus says, the .22lr is a short range rifle. And its very much the first step on the firearms ladder.
  14. Lol.......im sure we could add many more !!!!! anal sex? Don't think lab waited till 11 3/4 for that......... Your right.....it was quarter past 11............ and were you the girl or the boy?
  15. e Lol mate, I loved all the outside things and still do, the biggest worry is letting your kids go and have the freedom of years ago, you can't let them find out for themselves like we did, it just doesn't feel safe anymore. We were out at light and in at dark, no mobiles to check up...... I couldn't let my kids do that now unfortunately Things aren't really any worse now than they were then, its more that the perception is worse now than it was then.
  16. yeah used to catch em with my hands - had to handle with care to prevent being stickled!
