  2. iv been out a few times and a few times before season started
  3. if youve to shout at your dog whilst out lamping would it not be better to keep him on the slip instead of scaring everything off in that field and maby the next ones ?? i do a lot of lamping by myself so if iv got a few rabbits in my hand and the lamp in the other and say a deer or something else is spotted by the dog what i dont want the dog to go for and he starts running then i knock the lamp off and give a quick shout and hes called off it might scare a few rabbits but id rather do that than him catch something hes not suppossed to atb I'm always surprised by that, i'd be there

  7. when iv got my bull x off the lead and it sees something i dont want it to go for i shout at it and he comes back to me iv done this with him since he was a pup and he does it no problem now.
  8. i use a slip lead for the first few runs till the dogs burnt a little bit of energy off then it walks by my side for the rest of the night. atb
  9. these things happen pal it does your head in when your dog picks up an injury and is out of action for a while at least you've got another dog to take out i hope it heals up soon for you atb pal
  10. not bad pal would the switch not have been better on the pan handle it looks like it might be a bit awkward to switch on and off where its at are you going to paint the pan iv got a old homemade lamp its a hella 2000 wired on to a cut down broom handle and wired to a doorbell for the switch ill try and put a photo of it up if i can find it i dont use it anymore i use the lightforce lamps now there a lot lighter and better to use.atb pal
  11. its the lightforce striker or blitz for me and the new lithium 12v 14ah battery cant beat them but they cost a couple of hunderd quid for the set up but well worth it.

  14. its good when you can get your kids doing something that you both enjoy iv got a daughter aged 8 and shes been with me a few times she enjoys going but twines when it gets cold or we're not catching anything iv also got another daughter thats 12 mounths old at the end of the month i cant wait till shes older so i can take her to.atb for the season pal
  15. read up on ferreting before you go out so that you've got an idea of what to do but i would say your best bet would be like mikeball says find someone to go out with to show you how to do it properly good luck atb
  16. iv seen dogs break there toes and had to have them taken off and in a couple of months ther back to running the same i wouldnt worry to much about it loosing a toe pal. i hope it comes right for you though pal atb
  17. Cheers pal, you should have seen me trudging back to the car. Last think I wanted was failing ferrets on my dogs first season! it happens to us all sometimes pal just remember to take the jill next time just in case atb

  19. tell him to buy a ferret locator and collar and he shouldnt loose his ferret i never go ferreting without one there a vital pice of equipment and they save a lot of waiting around if your ferret kills underground a quick dig to the ferret and rabbit and then on your way. atb
  20. thats what i would do to pal chase a few rabbits in to some holes then enter the hob and you'll find out if he's any good or not good luck with him hope he comes right for you atb

  22. yeh i know what you mean it isnt easy to rehome a lurcher iv had a couple that have,nt made the grade and i found it hard to find them new homes but i did in the end i just think that its better to rehome than to cull a dog atb
