  5. I used to do a fair bit with the nlrc judging the obedience and marshaling on the field trials test, it was good fun but i was only in my 20's then and when the kids came along i packed up going to the shows, at that time they was disagreements in the camp and people left, but it was good fun and i made many good friends jim being one of them im nearly 40 now and to be honest ive forgot most of the rules, i remember the call off being the highest points but dont think anyone tried it lol atb 2.8
  6. IM no stranger to the collie greyhound run them for years of all %'s, and like you say a nice cross for rabbits but these days im of the opinion that a lurcher to lurcher with a twixt of what you want ie collie or whateva will offer a better chance of something that would catch a swift one for example, i run a half cross acd it was 2nd genaration half cross to half cross, but as a hybrid through racier than a strait half cross and could run a fair bit quicker than the others i saw of just half cross running with the same parents on one side but like i said ive not 100% made my mind up yet a
  7. Im on the look out for a rabbiting dog, and just wondered if anyone works, saluki whippet based lurchers as a strait cross or with something els ie collie or bedlington Im not saying this will be my next dog but the thought of the cross does interest me as i dont want my dog to be over 24inc prob 22/23 would be best as it will be only for rabbits but its always nice to have a dog that has a good turn of speed just in case a fast one jumps up any info, stories or breeders would be of interest atb 2.8

Off to my dads tomoro he lives near hull, and buys his fish from a monger that delivers to his door his batter is out this world a real taste to behold As for shops theres a van that runs through the dales on a friday stops at each village they are the best around As for the ones at the coast there is some good ones but dont like em when they leave the wet suit on
  22. So we have sorted why some dogs fail, But to the question of success rates, On a whole are the majority of coursing bred pups worth the high premium you pay for them and if there that good these days as running dogs/ sighthounds do you think the hybrid saluki will become more popular than the greyhound as a running dog base in lurchers
  23. YES rearing is everything, i bet many a good dog has been spoilt by bad owners and people who think there dogs can be left in a kennel till the weekend and then run hard
  24. I was just wondering what peoples opinions are on the success rate of well bred coursing pups, You see quite often dogs bred out of x cross y down through this and that all of good breeding and proven dogs in the field But out of these dogs how many don't make the grade and what would you say was the worst you could expect You hear of the success stories but what about the failures, I think the only word ive heard banded about is jackers which to me could happen with any breed and for many reasons so please not too much on this As these dogs are what you would say specialist dogs, dogs br
