Never mind, I split them up, even though they were making that "Dooking" sound it looked a bit mental and they were really ragging each other about lol... defintly need to figure out whats going on... Good job they never bite me I just stick me hand in the pen in the middle of them and they stop.

I had the 2 hobs together in the pen whilest writing this.. went out after typing it they were rolling all over looked very vicious..... now they are just kind of ignoring each other, I'll keep an eye on them for a little while longer see what happens. Theres no blood so gonna say it was rough playing but we'll see Thanks

Similar..without the squeeking or the hissing yea.. like a mixture of pig, otter and seal

Their 1 year old, they actually dont bite the kits the kits climb all over them they just sniff.. but start getting rough after a bit. Im not having the jill kits and hobs together in the hutches, just the outside pen.. I figured their hormones would still be busy and have been told this but like I say, I just cant tell weather the fighting, showing dominence or playing.. At the moment I have all of them except the 2 kits seperated..

I got my 2 hobs castrated friday gone and have been putting them in the pen together every dya since to see what happens. Ive got them in now, but I cant actually tell if their fighting, playing, or just showing which is boss... I wouldnt be so concerned but their stitches are still showing so trying to be a bit more careful, I need to know so that I know if they can live together and I can open the top hutch to the kits or if I should still keep them seperate.. One of the ferrets is very "vocal" even when working, and hes making alot of otter like sounds I guess,, dunno if this means hes

Theres a smallish window in the shed but during the day i have the door open anyways, I put them in the pen when im at home though. It looks darker because it was 9:20pm

What if you come accross a stubborn buck rabbit? My 2 hobs drag rabbits out sometimes, wouldnt be able to with a muzzle on

I've got 2 rabbit hutches attatched at a right angle, for the jills one 4ft x 2ft x 2ft hutch underneeth those for the hobs, those are in the shed, I built shelving to put the 2 rabbit hutches on and inside I seperated parts and put holes in for them to climb through...had to reinforce the floor in the bottom run and have the 6ft x 4ft x 2.5ft outside run.. At the moment I have put the kits in one side and one of the hobs in another and screwed wood over the hole as the hobs are recovering from castration and still hormonal.... .... Just to give you some ideas of a setup, I know you

For bedding in summer I use shredded paper as its free since my misses is a teacher, I get those big binbags full, the shredded cardboard from packaging or they love to roll up in paper bags (the type that dog food comes from etc.). In the winter I use dust extracted hay/straw and A old t-shirt or towel. For the hutch floor i use woodpellets or wood chips, they both soak up very well and both have no (or very little) dust. Though im favouirng wood chips because there lemon scented, they go further than the pellets and therfor cheaper. I dont use litter trays, they have picked a corner and

This is very true, I got into hunting on my own, my Dad never took an interest until I did and all my mates are either out on the pi$$ or sat in playing ps3/xbox while not bein arsed to do out with there lives .. I wanted someting to do on my days off work that didnt involve being A waster. I got a gun after being medicly dismissed from the army, thats probably what started me off. HOWEVER, I came here BEFORE i got ferrets and my posts are still around from askin the questions. I learned as much as I could about guns and ferrets before actually getting them. A result of that is I got my f

A bit better. I genreally dont favour any colour to be honest though, i mean some do look nice, albinos/bew always look furrier and more gentle than the rest, polecats always look more wild.. in my opinion. also.. Malt lookin forward to this "EU polecat" thing to calm down a bit. on another note.. one of my ferrets actually changed colour recently.. as daft as that sounds. I have 2 1yr old hobs and 2 8/9 week jills but the 2 hobs were very different in colour before.. now i get them mixed up..the lightest ones legs got alot darker, his tail is darker and his fur has a grey t

Tut tut tut you always get one. People prefer different ones due to their own experiences. Some are just more experienced than other lol . Im sorry but colour really doesnt matter to me, I have 2 albinos, a sandy and a polecat, the albinos are only 9 weeks so dont know how they will work yet but the other 2 are great workers. If they were silver, albinos..dyed purple.. Or whatever other colour they could be.. they would still be great workers, and about being able to see the ferret... How bad must your eyesight be to not see something moving around on the floor, even in thick bush i sti

I dye my ferrets purple, it makes them work so much harder,I've never had to dig to one since dying them purple and they bring the rabbits out already gutted.. the only problem is sometimes I get them mixed up because there all purple..

My argument is "you chose to live in the country/next to a farm you should expect the control of vermin so a farmer can continue to grow his food that you eat..." we have a couple on the farm who always scares off any rabbits were shooting at, she even walked right infront of me one time and just sat!... another time there alsation came bolting out the bushes at me, when I saw her I told her its a good job I dont have a shotgun and nervous. The worst thing about these 2 is, they own pigeons .... hes a proper cheeky bar stewart owning pigeons on a farm imo! The other people who live the

Put up with it mate, the more you handle them, pick them up, play with them etc. the more they will relise your not foe... Dont put them down when they bite you otherwise they will start biting you when they want to be put down as thats what they have assosiated it with. Might want to get them used to your feet too mate, if you have an area you can walk around with them around your feet it will stop them being scared of feet.

ive never had a problem with the pellets, it doesnt have time to turn to dust the amount i clean them out... i dont use it no more like i say thats just what i had left... the only reason i stopped using it is because i found shavings... that are lemon seented believe it or not.. soaks up great..goes alot further than the pellets and keeps the smell down... believe its cheaper than the pellets too
-
My ferrets love to play spot the difference so it would be devestating if they couldnt see
-
Just wood pellets, dont use sawdust it causes breathing problems apparantly. they are just what i had left over.. i use wood chips now because it goes further and soaks up a bit better

Yea 2 jills, av got 2 working hobs at a year old so 4 ferrets to keep me busy when the season starts again
-
Well heres me 2 new kits I've been going on about tucking into a rabbit leg.... bred off a very good mate of mine and a well known hawk man round here..the parents are very good workers.. he kept them back for me gave me them for free even though he had an offer on them so pretty happy! One of them is alot more feisty than the other.. just exploring while the other is in the corner eating away
-
Good luck with it mate

I think the majority of posts was more about how hes not ALLOWED to work them..
