  15. hi lads i went beating today &after a bad start to the day [crashed the motor on the way] keeper came to my rescue and we set off beating . with the snow being so deep it wasnt long before koda was carrying balls of snow & ice on his chest and feathered legs ,i cleaned off at the end of each drive to ease his burden but the last drive we do is a bit big & consists of driving birds to a more suitable wood . we achieved that & set about working the plantation which is hard work at the best of times but double hard today with all the snow and koda set off already carrying

  17. well there is nowt better than having it" come" on top and using your years of poaching /hunting experience to escape the "enemy" ,back in the day when i were a lad [lol] it was a weekly occurance & part of the sport -well done from me mate & nice looking dogs -billy
  18. daz ive just read the shooting times and the "star" letter was about magpies ,the lad is fromyour neck of the woods knows of a few large roosts containing 500 -600 birds so you better get out there and find them ! you could have a nice night on them& maybe break one of my records -go for it mate -billy
  19. went for a walk out on saturday night with gun& dog and im noticing less magpies about so either im having an impact on them or there off to pastures new but either way i will still continue to hit them whenever i get the opportunity i dropped 2 crows but a fox stole one [i think] as one was barking most of the night quite close to me .i found 16 pheasants roosting but didnt need one so they were left-these pheasants are wild birds and there never really plump enough to get a good meal from so i for one will leave them be,i shot a few woodies for a casserole so nowt gets wasted
  20. very common in a hard working spaniel -billy
