I have around 9000 acres of prime shooting, and o Tues i went out to one of my permissions just 2 miles from my home in Castleford, set off at 04.00 with one of my mates Alan W. got to the Farm about 4.05 not wanting to wake anyone i parked about 60 yards from the house, we got ourselves ready and walked up passed the house, behind the house is a large paddock. We have seen a few Rabbits on several occasions but never been able to get any ware née them as the approach is slightly uphill with the Rabbits looking down on you with hardly any cover to approach from. As you can imagine this makes t

Two 3 hour shooting sessions with Si, Davy and Charlie
hotshot2me replied to zini's topic in Airgun Hunting
Thanks Si went out last evening and downed a Rabbit at 40 yards with the SE its so well balanced it seems to make thing so easy, not advocating that you should take long shots all the time but when conditions are right you can't let them go: Dave -
I honestly cant see a problem taking on long distance shots if you are confident and used to taking on that type of shot, i myself took on a lased 60 yards shot and killed it instantly in the head on Tuesday but i was confident that i could make the shot or i would not have taken it.I have been shooting for 53 years started when i was 12 and believe i can old my own when it comes to shooting Good on ya mate, if you can see em shoot em if your confident: Dave

Two 3 hour shooting sessions with Si, Davy and Charlie
hotshot2me replied to zini's topic in Airgun Hunting
Hi Si have been an avid viewer of your video's, and now with Verminhunters youtube channel, absolutely brilliant Vid, and excellent shooting by all. It was down to you that i bought my BSA Scorpion SE in .177, watched your vid shooting it 3 weeks ago, i was undecided until then, then went out the following day and got it. And everything you said about it is spot on its so accurate its unbelievable, first time out hunting Tuesday got a Bunnie at 60 yards, as you would say a clinical head shot, Thanks again: Dave -

lovely bag of Pigeons their mate, always take plenty of shells if you ain't got em you can't shoot em: Dave
-
Hi the Tasco by all accounts is a good one also have not got one myself some of the lads on another forum i am on have them and say they are good and about £82 or so: Dave

Never put your hide up in a straight horizontal line at the top drop down on one pole and up on the other so it looks like waves, and fill in with any of the surrounding foliage when you go out 20-30 yards and look back everything should look the same. if it don't look good to you it certainly wont to the Pigeons, Pigeons will shy away from anything that looks like straight line's you don't get them naturally: Dave
-
Nice bag their Stuart: Dave

The Horseshoe Pattern as been used to lots of success over the years, but its not just a matter of dropping them down one behind the other, if you've watched a flock of Pigeons on the ground they are not regimental. some will be feeding pointing one way and some the other but nearly always into the wind at some point, and some will be feeding while others watch. You have to try and simulate that pattern, as a rule of thumb 3-4 feeders and one watcher, same when decoying Geese, get this pattern right and you will get the bags: Dave
-
Stick a crow decoy out and watch the maggies mob it, Make a nest shape out of straw or anything lying about and put two hen eggs in it break one open slightly they'll come for it, as you probably know Maggie's cause allot of damage to game bird nests robbing the eggs, try it t works: Dave
-
Moo, is correct the most important thing is getting the hide to match with its surroundings this may take a little time to do but will pay dividends also if pigeons are tetchy as you say, don't be frightened to alter the decoy pattern several times if needed. if the patterns you've presented don't work bring them in, what you must do before commencing shooting fields is do your homework watch the fields with binoculars, watching the flight lines the Pigeons come in on and go out on. setting your hide up on the lines can get you birds when the decoys fail to work: Dave

Hi Nick firstly Welcome to the forum, with clays you have to marinade in Sulphuric Acid for 24 hours then OK, but have plenty of Rennie's handy. on a more serious note the AA TX200 is an excellent choice of gun, you said you and your son were into Clay Shooting what disciplines do you shoot, from an ex clay shooter myself.
