    I would like everyone that is granted a shotgun/fac cert have to go on a gun safety course before being granted the certificate, i say this because there are far too many certificate holders who are not safe to themselves and to others. A few years back i was a shotgun and safety instructor at my local C.P.C, A guy came on to a layout for a card of down the line, i was marking the card, he had a misfire i told him to stand Ware he was and not to open the gun which he did and closed it again,and not to turn round, he ignored me turned around as i was walking to wards him when the gun went off

Villaman i don't hold grudges i'm 65 shaky with Arthritis, its hard enough for me to concentrate on the quarry let alone making sure i've got it in shot and in focus LOL: Dave

    Well done mate, we haven't got the problem of layed crops, although we've had the rain in our part of Yorkshire not heavy enough to flatten crops, our problems been on Sprouts, and cabbages, but the pigeons seem to have vanished for the last 2 times we've been out: Dave

    Well said Sean, a man of my heart, couldn't have said it better myself, its not the gun that kills its the person pulling the trigger, you could just as well mow people down in your Car no difference to me its still the person behind the wheel. and this as already been done so nothing new, did they try to ban all cars off the road "i don't think so": Dave

    Thanks for the comment Ian, I did say it was a hobby its becoming more like a 4 day week job, with no pay all the expense is on me, But nothing i shoot goes to waste. All the pigeons, Rabbits, and "Hares" all are distributed to OAP'S like myself that live nearby, just supplementing their diets with some meet, and may i say its much appreciated on there part. I have shot lots of Rabbits ETC but usually off camera unfortunately: Dave

    What do you do for your hobby's then please tell me so i can pick holes in your threads, is this all you all do post derogatory remarks on other peoples posts because you have nothing better to do with your self go get a life, or do us all a favor and keep your opinions to yourself and let people who have a genuine like for hunting get on with doing a worth while hobby that helps the farmers control the vermin: Dave

    Agreed. It was a piss poor shot though I agree it was a poor shot, but tell me of anyone on here who's never miss calculated the yardage when on uneven ground, no one's ever 100% all of the time I'll bet. And the comments this post as brought re- netting and relocating the hare's, the field is 100 acres, thats what i said about not practical, imagine the further expense at doing something like that the people involved the then resulting damage to the crops, just not on. I put the post on thinking it would be of interest to like minded people after all its supposed to be an "HUNTING FORUM"

    Its all too easy to get carried away when you here the call of the Goose coming toward you, you can think they are right on top of you when they are not so keep your cool, and as said don't get up too soon, easier said than done but with practice you will learn when you have missed a few through being impatient. The best advise is when you rise pick out one Goose forget the rest until your first is shot, then follow on to the next if you have time. never get into your mind that I'm going to get a right and left, settle for the one always, the next is a bonus.     Paulus I'm sure they would be queuing up but thats not my decision, the farm manager knows the crack he's been into country sports for years, I know they have found guys with Lurcher's on there land and prosecuted them, as not all are mindful of the crops: Dave

    Paulus, could you please explain how the hell i do this, and still protect all the other area's that need protecting, and relocate wear, I'm sure all the other Farmers in the area would love that they all grow Veggies of some description what you ask is not practical. I don't do the crop protection for a living. its mine and the other lads that do it with me a hobby, Dave

    I can sympathies with some of your comments. "BUT" i shoot over 3000 acres throughout the year for this company, all the Hares we have taken have all been shot with the shotgun, while out shooting Pigeons. This morning we were out after Rabbits but none showed, The company are adding more land every year, they supply all the major Supermarkets with Veg, and also grow arable crops. You have to understand that 3 hares will eat the equivalent amount as one sheep, imagine having 12 Hares on the land, and may i say there are lots more than that, and then sticking 4 sheep on their, what do you think

    Sorry lads but i have to they are chomping through the crops and i have been told to cull them there are so many on the land i shoot, if i don't i won't be doing a good job we have taken 14 over the last 3 trips, in one week, and they all get eaten: Dave

    Went out at 0500 on the Cabbage field as planned, but things did not go to plan i got set up on one side of the field and Alan W the other. I had been waiting about an hour watching a hole in a Rabbit fence were they had nibbled through the plastic mesh, and then all of a sudden an hare came into view. turning from the fence line to get a better view turned on the camera and caught it running across the field in my direction. It kept coming stopping then starting again, it first sat about yards away out of shot range, then to my surprise it came down in my direction stopped about 30 yards or

    Nice shooting, the Hatsan AT44-10 is a brilliant gun, i had one but it was a bit heavy for me, although very accurate had to move it on: Dave

    Thanks lads for the comments, off out in the morning on another location for Rabbits and then setting up for the Pigeons on same area on a Cabbage field 100 acres of em, will try and get some good footage: Dave
