I don't think the 31lber existed. I've heard so many differing stories, here they are. 1 it was caught on Cowhill beat 2 it was caught at the Top Boards DGAA beat. 3 it was caught on the Burgh water. 4 it was caught by a Mr Weatherall when he was fishing Dalswinton, he had 3 that day but the biggest was actually 13lb. Make of that what you will. What about the latest rumour? Seemingly there was a big sea trout of 20-21lb caught in the haaf nets, it has reportedly been seen on the slab in the fishmongers in Dumfries. Have any of you locals seen it? I thought the 3lb limit w

Well done LDR and Bruce. -
Here's a story about Ken W. As usuall the meeting place was a motorway service station, a Perry Barr greyhound trainer took 6 greyhounds to get checked over. The first had a shoulder out which Ken put back in. The second had a trapped nerve in it's neck which was quickly sorted. The third's back was out but Ken quickly put it back in. The fourth was sore on a wrist but again after a bit of manipulation it was sorted. By now the trainer was starting to get suspicious so he brought the first dog out again to see if Ken would notice. He didn't and this time he diagnosed the dog as being sore

Chudleys or Gain. I wouldn't feed Red Mills to a rat. I did try it once but it didn't half give the dogs the runs.

We do send him down the Beam SJM, or at least try to. The trouble is he just won't go any further than say 20 yards if it's a squatter and he can't see it so Jimmy gets the job of walking Bob up to them. I've done as you've described with dogs over the years, i've seen me sending dogs a long way down the beam to squatters that they can't possibly have seen, but they knew that if I sent them there was a prize there at the other end. If they got up to the rabbit and still couldn't see it i'd shout "where is it, where is it" to them, that got the dog working in the right area and it would so

I had another walk out with Jimmy and Bob tonight. The rabbits were a bit thin on the ground and the ones that were out and about didn't stay put for long. Again Bob ran well and managed 7 rabbits. Tonights pic.

He didn't on Sunday night Franny. I think we'll be back out tonight so we'll see what happens then.

He turned 2 in January lofti.

I had just over an hour out with Jimmy and Bob tonight, my first time out for a while as i'm still busy with my shed and kennel after moving. The night was flat calm but at least it was dark, there wasn't a lot of rabbits about but what was there Bob ran well picking up 9. What he's not good at is going down the beam to rabbits that are sitting tight, although he has lamped all season he hasn't seemed to work out that if I keep the lamp on one spot and hiss him down the beam there will be a rabbit there waiting for him.Hopefully the penny will eventually drop. We are hoping to get out

I have two stuffed Stoats for sale, the first is a very good example of taxidermy. It shows a Stoat standing on a log with fungi beech mast and moss on the ground, I'm asking £60 for it. The second piece isn't as good and shows a Stoat in winter plumage again standing on a log, i'm asking £25ono for it. I live just outside Dumfries and it will be collection only. First piece. Second piece.

I suppose if you don't ask you don't get, sorry mate but no I couldn't let it go for £300.

Surley this is how it would work if runners 1 and 3 dropped out,-runners 2 and 4 would get a bye leaving 4 dogs in the next round. I don't see why runners 2 and 4 would run each other in the first round when they're not scheduled to meet untill round 2. ....ROUND 1..................................ROUND 2 Bye vs runner 2..................runner 2 ..................................................V Bye vs runner 4...................runner 4 runner 5 vs runner 6..............5 or 6 ....................................................V runner 7 vs runner 8...............7 OR 8

this is what this site has to offer ,advice to novices from novices that think they know all the correct answers . Jessy - I don't wish to get into any slanging matches here but I would like to point out that having read a few of your posts you seem to like stirring things up. I AM a novice and don't wish to become an expert in anything. I am more than happy to take advice from anyone offering it and to use my own intelligence to interpret it how I see fit. An 'off-the-cuff' remark about not getting caught made me smile, NOT want to go out in army combats and twigs in my hair! Not ever

I agree and disagree with you WH, if a runner drops out in the first round I agree a reserve could be brought in. I don't agree that someone who has already been beat gets back in if the person who beat them can't run, if you are beat then you're out end of. As for the last point, you've lost me completly, If it's run down the card it won't make any difference who drops out or how many, it'll just mean more byes. Far better to try and keep it simple then everyone will know where they stand.

we have a lamping comp within the local lurcher club that i'm a member of and when it comes to somebody pulling out the other person gets the by BUT the person going through still has to go out and run at least 5 rabbits with somebody to witness it, the reason behind this is that the person going through has'nt gone through without running because if he had'nt of ran he would'nt of taken the chance of his dog getting injured, so he would'nt have been able to run in the next round anyway i hope this makes sence atb tony I understand what you're saying Tony but do you think t

Due to moving house and having less ground [if any] to shoot i've decided to sell one of my AAS410K air rifles, i'm going to keep the .22 calibre so have the following up for sale. Air Arms S410K .177 calibre with Tasco golden antler 3-9 x 40 TV view scope and Air Arms silencer. The gun is in as new condition and i'll throw in a tin of AA field pellets. I'm willing to travel 20 miles to meet up with prospective buyers, eg New Cumnock[A76], Abington[M74] and Dumfries[A76, A75]. I'm looking for £420 and am in no hurry to sell. Cheers, Tam. http://i134.photobucket.com/al
