  1. If you've had 4 kills does that mean you've only got 2 ferrets left. The answer to your question is no you don't have to breed them on their first season. Out of interest did you breed the other two jills on their first season?
  2. None of the rabbits I gutted today had any young in them mate, it won't be long though.
  3. My eldest son Dylan and I headed out for a couple of hours with the ferrets and the lurcher today, the ground was still hard after the recent frosts and there was also a light covering of snow on it which fell during the night. The first hole we done was a single in the middle of a gorse bush. Dylan entered the albino jill and heard a rumble soon after, 10 minutes later and I got the locator box out and got a reading of 4ft so we decided to wait a bit longer. I took the polecat jill and netted up some nearby holes leaving Dylan to wait on the Albino. I got one rabbit o

Amazing dog when he wanted to run, theres been nothing quite like him since. totally agree mate that dog was a freak of nature 100% unique. 17. Alf was a true gent and yes he had some cracking dogs, I wonder if he ever regretted selling some picture? He did get a good price, but I heard he regretted it. First got to know him, when he did Lazer treatment on my Whippet X Grey, and yes he was a Gentleman. I heard he got 12k for him. Did you run dogs at Gretna regular? I ran them there from the late ''s up untill a couple of years ago. I heard he was offered 12k but turned it down then was offered 17 and sold it, only what I was told, don't know if its true. He bought it for £7k and sold it for £12k t

  21. Do you not think the rabbit would notice the million candle power beam before it sees the dog? There could be an answer to why the rabbits sit longer though, you mention some of the dogs are fairly small so could it be that they have a light running style making very little noise whereas a large heavy dog could be heard hammering up to the rabbit hence the rabbit hears it coming and spooks earlier? Regarding the colour issue, a black dog will stand out more in the daytime than a light coloured one.
  22. So WHY exactly do people get pissed off? Cos what pisses a lot of people off is people jumping on threads and being flippant and agressive for no reason? What you say is foolish - for example a lurcher that is lamped 5 nights a week but not ferreted / mooched is more of a working dog than a dog that does all three but only occaisionaly. There are also very good lurchers that never lamp. Ignore her Jai, she's going through a difficult time.
  23. Why would a dog that has a good recall during the day not have it at night? I'm not 100% sure I'm picking you up right but it sounds like you don't expect a dog that's good at daytime work to be good at lamping, why not? If the dog has anything about it it will surely know the difference between night and day and what's expected of it.
