  1. If your bitch's parents were first crosses then she'd be 1/4 bull, 1/4 grey, 1/4 bedlington and 1/4 whippet and 1/4 = 25%. Edited to say "you beat me to it iceman".
  2. What height is your dog Hammerdan?
  3. £30 each. Is it £30 for 10 mate?
  4. Good write up A/S and a good bag o' rabbits.
  5. Good news that you got her back Stroller.
  6. How many threads have we had in the past few weeks about wether to use a locator or not? Maybe now the people that say they don't use a locator because they've never lost a ferret in X amount of years ferreting and that there's other ways to get them out will take note, sometimes locators are the answer. They are a dear bit of kit but they hold if not increase in value over the years. I bought a mk1 box and 2 collars 10 years ago for £60 and I would like to think I'd get more than £60 now if I went to sell them. Best of luck in getting your jill back stroller.
  7. cheers for that bud it is a bit letting down when u lose a ferret iam gunner keep going back to look for him Any joy yet???
  8. Agreed about the 8ft dig, I wouldn't attempt it. The good thing about a locator is you can pinpoint where the ferret is, mark the spot and wait. If nothing happens check again if it's in the same spot you at least have an option.
  9. have got a dog but its no started marking yet she was there but is still daft as a brush . the ground was hard but nowt to do with the frost the booy is to big to be a boy but no big enought to be a lad you been out lately the bunnys were for ferrets tea no mine am having chicken wrap Booy, boy, lad it must be an Annan thing. I don't do much ferreting mate, my booy, sorry I mean boy or maybe that should be lad does a bit. I'm waiting for the ground to get soft enough to run a dog on then I'll be out with the lamp. You done any lamping with the bitch?
  10. It doesn't always work out in the end Stroller, below was a reply I wrote out on another post. In the scenario below you could squeek, whistle, bang about with a stick etc but it wouldn't make any difference, patience might be the only answer and you might needs lots of it unless you had a collar on. http://www.thehuntin...-day-ferreting/ Sometimes not digging isn't an option, the above won't be the first time a ferret has got caught on the wrong side of rabbits in a stop end. Imagine this scenario, a jill has got a ferret bottled up in a stop end, she works away at it and eventuall
  11. What is booy? Is it Annan talk for boy. You'll have to take that dug oot wi' ye a bit mair and it might start marking, it'll save you a bit of time. Well done on the rabbits and getting the booy out wi' ye, enjoy yer tea.
  12. all the people that say send em back,,,, its people like hollie above , where your argument fails, shes obviously british and proberbly proud of it.. where do you send some one back to, when there born and bred here. my mrs is mixed race , got a west indian father, but shes proud to be english , and of course she is,, my son and doughter are of course mixed but a bit more diluted... white with white,,, black with black................ you sad fuckers Tomo , do you remember a few years back when this forum was full of posts from the likes of Woodga,Pegandgun, Mapreader,Snareman
  13. Agreed they are young, but what are they going to learn being kept in a hutch or court untill next season. Personally I would start mine about 5 months and not expect too much too soon. To start with they might just be going in and out of the buries but through time they'll learn to work them more thoroughly, something they won't learn being cooped up.
  14. They are, but they've also got a striker that can score.
  15. Runforyourlife wasn't having a go at you mate he was having a pop at whin. Regarding the Jill, try to ignore her when she shows at the mouth of the bury and hopefully she will come out of her own free will as it sounds like she's got used to bolting back underground whenever you approach her.
  16. Well done on the 16 rabbits, but how did you manage to get the long net poles into the ground? You wouldn't be able to mark the ground with them up here, minus 15 at 8am this morning.

  18. They don't always bolt mate. Have you read this thread? http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/topic/180313-a-sad-day-ferreting/ Sometimes not digging isn't an option, the above won't be the first time a ferret has got caught on the wrong side of rabbits in a stop end. Imagine this scenario, a jill has got a ferret bottled up in a stop end, she works away at it and eventually manages to get over it and ends up in the stop end. Another rabbit or rabbits appear and press up against the first one jamming it into the ferret who ends up well and truely stuck. You have two options, 1- wait
  19. if you breed merle to merle half the pups will be blind and deaf Don't think that's quite right mate. Agreed there is a risk of producing blind/deaf pups when breeding merle to merle but to say half of the litter will be born that way isn't right.
  20. Taz, 5/8th greyhound X 3/8th collie. His daughter Amy. Blue.
  21. We only got the three mate and only one of them bolted. Aye thats the cold weather back again, it's been a crap year for running dogs.
  22. Dylan and I were back out today for an hour or so. The rabbits were thin on the ground and the ones we did make contact with were reluctant to bolt so I had to get the spade working. Some pics from today.
  23. Too far for me to travel mate, I had the pup delivered by one of the dog transporters.
