  3. Tried the dogs on it years ago and wasn't impressed with the results, found their stools to be loose and a kinda greenish colour not unlike cowpats. There are plenty better options out there, Chudleys, Beta and Gain to name three. you missed the best option of them all mate...raw That's true mate but the lad was asking about dry.
  4. Just lately there has been a few members complaining about the number of anti's on this forum. If you ever wondered why the answer is above. If you feel the need to do it [droppers] do it, but ffs don't post about it on an open forum.

  6. No wonder you're gutted mate, if they haven't got leverets lying somewhere it wouldn't have been long untill they had. They managed to survive the harsh winter only for a car to kill them while they're breeding. Just means there'll be less of them about next season.
  7. Never yet seen an ex racer that was better than an average lurcher. A mate had two some years back and they spent most of their time laid up with injuries from shoulders to wrists but mostly feet trouble, he had to choose the ground they ran on very carefully. Neither retrieved and used to overshoot their quarry most of the time, also they had a habit of running into walls, fences, trees etc as they are that keen on their quarry they often don't see anything else. Also greyhounds are not stock broke and usually have a high prey drive so breaking them to stock can take some doing. If it's t
  8. More info would help mate. What make of lamp, size of battery etc.
  9. Thanks for the reply The one, you've got me a bit confused now though as in your first reply you said [about jills],-"they stay in season till the shortening of days brings them out if they dont get the jill jab". Which would assume you are pro the jill jab yet above you admit there are side effects from using it and after reading up on the subject you never used it again. As I value your opinion can I ask if you would advise the use of the jill jab as a safe and effective way of bringing a jill out of season? Just recently I've read about implants, have you any experience of them? Again
  10. Read post 3 mate, graham has answered all your questions. And as others have said it depends on the pup, time of year and possibly what the running ground is like.
  11. None of mine ever lost condition if they remained in season and certainly didn't end up "as rough as feck" and I can assure you if they had I'd have been concerned and would have done something about it. You mention the jill jab but have you heard of any side effects the jab has caused? I can remember last year reading on another forum about jills developing tumours after having the jill jab and wondered how common that was?
  12. Here's a kangaroo cross at 6 months. This dog was just a natural jumper, some are some aren't that's the way it is sometimes. Wouldn't reccomend jumping high obstacles at such a young age but it can be done. Oh just remembered I'll have to "stop talking shit" and go and get more helium for the dogs tea tonight.
  13. You don't need to mate them pike hunter there are other options. You've named one option, there's also the jill jab and also they can remain in season without dieing although you would be forgiven for thinking otherwise after reading some of the things on the 'net.
  14. All circumstances are different 3turns, first up if I was out for a mooch the pup would be working loose so slipping or not wouldn't be an option. Saying that if the hare was 60-100 yards away I'd call the pup back into me so it wouldn't get a run but if it kicked one up that would be a different story. Also as has been said it depends on the time of year, there's a big difference between running a strong hare in Jan/Feb and running a 3/4 sized leveret in Aug/Sept.

  17. You could be onto something there. Why don't all of us stop posting about our hunting forays ,lamping, ferreting or whatever. Or if we do we can just say "I was out lamping with the dog last night, had a good session but won't tell yous how many the dog got incase you think I'm bragging."
  18. How bad is the tear tracker and what was the vets treatment? Did he stitch it or strap it back up into place? I've known of many running dogs [lurchers and greyhounds] that have torn their gracilus muscle and made a complete recovery, but it all depends on the severity of the tear.

    guys

I think I know what you are trying to say whin, but if folk don't post anything illegal they shouldn't have anything to worry about.
