  5. Nice looking pup, you got a price on him fella?
  6. Was some wee lassie taking her rabbit for a walk and ye slipped yer dug oan it. Yer a bad man.
  7. Red Legged Partridge, sometimes called French Partridge.
  8. Would say it's more giving an opinion rather than judging. My opinion is that a 19 month old pup is too young to use as a stud, but maybe you think I'm not entitled to have an opinion.
  9. I live about 4 miles away from it and haven't bothered to go to it for the past 3-4 years, think that says it all....
  10. Don't think anyone's hiding just asking for info. What did you expect when you used a pup that must only have been 18-19 month old at the time for a stud? No way could he have proven himself at that age. Fair play the bitch might've been outstanding but surely that would've been an even bigger reason for taking her to a proven dog? Think any prospective buyers are entitled to know what they're buying. That said all the best with the pups and I hope they do well for you.
  11. Agree, "Training spaniels" and "Gundogs their learning chain" both by Joe Irving are well worth a read.
  12. Couldn't help myself but comment Jai... Must admit it's a pet hate of mine, seen too many injuries due to long nails. Aye black nails can be a ba**ard to do.
  13. Have you lost the nail clippers, lol. Hope she takes for you, all the best when they arrive.
  14. Cracking pics Jim, what's the fish above the carp? What camera are you using?
  15. Is this the first time he's yapped/barked while chasing? Has he done much up until now? I would give it a couple of months off the game say until late Sept, keep it fit though, walking, bike work and ball work [retrieving]. When you do take it out again take it out by itself, just you and it. I have never seen the advantage of taking another dog out with a pup especially when it sounds as keen as yours [spinning about on end of lead as other dog's running]. The pup will only be getting frustrated watching the other dog run and I don't think it helps a pups retrieve one bit
  16. very true nothing to do with the sheep It's not the sheep that's the problem is it, it's the "bloody dog", or maybe the owner.
  17. Seems to be... But is it only certain members you pull up about it??? http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/topic/344896-lurcher-for-sale-25tts-3-years/
  18. You say she's always shown an interest in cats and wanted to chase them, what have you done about it? I'd have expected, after a few weeks of you correcting her every time she's shown an interest in them that she'd know they were off limits for her, sounds like she still thinks they're fair game. It's not too late to change things but you have to be firm and let her know they are off limits for her. As for yapping when she chased the rabbit, I'd say it's got nothing to do with barking at the cats, more likely caused by her age which going by your other posts is about 7 1/2 months, plenty
  19. can you put a link up for these books mate ? Bookfinder.com is a decent site if you're searching for books. http://www.bookfinder.com/
  20. While others sleep was written by Cyril Herber Percy, Brian Vesey-Fitzgerald wrote, It's my delight, both are worth a read.
  21. A lot of good advice re checking your own dog over, some folk however just aren't confident enough to do it. The last paragraph lets the post down however, I trained greyhounds for years so had injuries to deal with often enough and one comes readily to mind. The dog ran on a Friday night and finished second but as he walked off I was sure I seen him dip slightly, the following morning I checked him over but found nothing. For some reason I wasn't happy with him so asked a mate to give him the once over, this he did and found nothing. Meanwhile the dogs owner had entered him in an op
  22. Did ye get a semi?
  23. Seen some of the heats, wee Gangus's dog broke the clock, first dog to break 28 sec I believe.
