  2. Pups always seem to take one step forward and two back with toilet training, just keep doing what your doing and she will get there eventually, 13wks in my experience is still too young for it to be 100% trained.

  6. That is an almost impossible question to answer Wyeman. There are just so many variables, even from the human element in that all humans have different ways of training/levels of understanding dogs, and the huge variances of dogs, how do you get a right match between the two... Certain breeds of dogs used to create a lurcher have certain traits, but you cannot forget there will always be a sighthound in that mix. And not all dogs will adhere to the specific traits. On the whole, most lurchers are bred for drive rather than bidibility. Some dogs can be controlled better with some types of
  7. Ahhh bless. He does have that deeply dippy look about him
  8. Another 'is it normal' ..... I have a canary hen who has never made a nest nor laid an egg in 2yrs sitting on a different hens chicks in the nest, she was making little cheeping noises. I moved her off incase she had laid an egg in with the chicks but she had not.
  9. My only concern for you would be prey drive in certain types of lurcher. Will you want the dog to wait for a command before chasing and/or the ability to stop it if it did chase. I have no doubt with correct training it can be done with some lurchers, but i also have no doubt it cannot with others.
  10. i still walk the dogs when it snows lazzy c**t Any need? yes whats the point owning i dog if ya dont walk it That's better, putting your point across without the need for foul language
  11. Just on my way out the door to a farm with some traps for these...slowly invading our red Bastille
  12. Don't know that i would trust a 2nd hand incubator unless it was from a pal. I think these are the cheapest ones to buy?........ http://www.livefoods...oductsearchusen There are many breeds of chickens which make good broodies, depends how many eggs you want hatched at once as to what type to get. I have some Wyndotte cross silkies here. Gold tops also make good ones. But no good if you want something right now. As if you get some, they may need several weeks to settle into their new home before they start to lay and/or got broody. You best bet for immediate hatching is either an incubato
  13. In my experience, they all try it on, one time or another, no matter how well stock trained they are. I sometimes think a half hearted attempt like your bitch did is not a bad thing. It is easier to show a dog what is wrong when they are actually doing it, consequences of actions. Or an easier way to explain it is..... You can tell a child a hundred times if they touch fire it will hurt, but they never really understand untill they actually touch it.
  14. Perhaps us Northerners are just more traditional/British than you southerners Tea is quintessentially British.....high tea, afternoon tea. All to do with the customs of drinking tea, and the snack food eaten with it. Dinner is the largest meal of the day, your work dictates when you eat it, so farmers, miners etc would have dinner in the afternoon (12.00 - 14.00hrs) to give them energy for the rest of the days work. The southern softies sitting in their offices would fall asleep if they had a big meal at 'DINNERTIME' because they would not be doing anything really physical to burn it o

  16. Got all that Sean, have to have lamps on all day.
  17. Bless you Jock for going to the trouble, but it is for my sitting room. Tin foil covered walls may be a bit too modern for here Dont want to sound like a defeatist I know the white stuff you mean, would not work on old uneven walls, and when i researched the elastomere, very expensive and has to be sprayed onto the walls? Did not know you could create your own Got 5 already
  18. Mine is worse than useless but generally, whippets are renown for being good at ratting
  19. I need some advice about lightening a very dark room. Have tried some samples of 'light reflective paint' the sample is not really enough to see if it works properly...does anyone have any experience if it does or not, or is it a waste of money? Plus another thing i have found is, it has cracked when it has dried Also interior metalic paint... can anyone recommend a product, was thinking if i got a metalic paint for the chimney breast it would reflect light plus be a feature wall. Looked at Crown paints but they only do a limited colour scheme and they are either too dark or a horrible colou
