  1. He has had several rats Graham, will that count if he does not get any more rabbits?
  2. Collars...... I have never had an injury ever through a dog wearing a collar, fair enough most collars don't normally have big brass D rings on them but again in 7 yrs never had any trouble with it. I know it can happen, but for me the reasons i have a collar on this lad outweigh the risks
  3. Spot on, the yelp/scream does work, at first shocks the pup, that is the time to then withdraw. Follow it on with a firm NO, or whatever word you will use for times you want the pup to stop what it is doing. Don't just keep on doing it though unless you withdraw all attention immediately. with the greatest respect Moll i rather not have to keep telling the pup off for doing things it feels compelled by its nature to do, the yelping/screaming at the pup is just like putting a band aid on an infection, what im saying is the problem of the pups energy is still there, thats what needs address
  4. Is it not more facial than eye on my birds though? They do not seem to have the pinched eye of Ornithiosis.

  6. Sorry Gem, camera has finally packed in
  7. That collar is 7yrs old Gem, was Jazz's before Rudie's and has been worn just about constantly, in rivers, hunting, it all. bought it years ago at some game fair? A quick boot polish now and then and it has stayed looking brill. Even survive Rude jumping from the back of a moving quad and denting all the brass work Someone from here recently asked for photos to make one similar, and said it looked to be saddle/harness...(something like that) leather, which is supposedly good leather? I thought it was from Black dog trading, but have never seen one like it, and when i bought a different one
  8. He is the happiest dog in the world D, the kind of dog always smiling Only his 3rd visit to this place and to be honest they do all sit near to the edges, will be nigh on impossible to catch here other than on the lamp when hopefully they will be further out from the edges. He did catch one on his 2nd visit, but as sod's law dictates, it was a day i did not have the camera Not worried though, don't want them killed till breeding is over

  10. I cannot move them, they are on either eggs or chicks at the mo. So you think it might be mite also?
  11. I would think 4 judges would be a doddle, loads of people would be flattered to be a judge...I was even one myself many moons ago If you keep a rough and a smooth, either choose which one you want to enter or get someone else to show it for you. It's like saying what happens if i have a terrier and a lurcher, those shows run consecutively
  12. Noticed that 2 days ago, now this morning another hen looks like she is starting the same, saw her rubbing her face on the perch.. I am presuming this to be mites and have applied frontline, was i right?
  13. Noticed one of my hens has a baldy/sore looking face...
  14. I remember years ago at a local show, they had a pure bred class, so people with pure salukis, deerhounds, whippets etc etc could have somewhere to enter their dogs. All breeds in together, but at least it was somewhere for them. I think this would be a brill idea for shows My only gripe with most shows is the time it takes them to start showing, then the length of time it takes. If the schedule says showing starts at 12pm, then try to start then and not the 1.30pm i have seen. And can they not have more rings/judging going on at the same time? For example, Rough lurchers shpwing at the s
  15. I have only ever commented on my whippet in the past, and always thought when people commented about the skin/coat on whippets it was just people wanting to dis the dogs. Have always found mine to be less likely to get injury and skin tears than any of my lurchers...... Untill i went to a show recently with a big turn out of whippets. I could not believe the variation in whippets, some of them their coats were so short and thin the colour pigment looked like it had been sprayed onto the skin, you could literally see every muscle and vein There seems to be almost as big a variation in whippet
  16. Ive also noticed that about mine, will often find what the others have walked past
  17. You don't need him super fit at this time of year? Let him take it easy and start again for next season when he is old enough
  18. May have been better held a little later in the year when breeders have finished raising/assessing their stock
  19. Will you be holding any more or is this a one off?
