  1. very true regards Labs, its the 1 breed i have had probs with them trying to fight my dog, they are feckin pain in arse. My dog Bryn not one for fighting, but he will pile in if they start on him, and most lurcher his size can do lot of damage, you dont need the agro do you .! Yes this law prob with bull types owners in mind, but there lot like the above breeds that need it aswell . How big is Bryn ?
  2. bragging about it costing thousands! they have no idea that were shooting and pest control to stop this land would cease to be the place and species they seek to protect. Dick heads!. They should think again as considering the history of missing bodies on Saddleworth Moor, they may never be seen again http://hsa.enviroweb.org/
  3. 6.5x55 would do boar with a heavy load. BUT, so would a 22 rimmy in the right spot. Boar need a big lump of lead, .308 minimum, 30-06 is better. I know of no Firearms dept that would approve 243 or 6.5x55 for boar, and for once they are right.
  4. its called a length of rope, and they come in any size you like!
  5. 6.5 Swedish for me.It will shoot light and heavy bullets well regardless of barrel twist rate. Not something that can be said for .243. Some areas are a little sniffy about .243 etc as a fox and roe rifle, if fox is your primary work. But are far more likely to allow it as a primarily roe rifle with the occasional fox work. worth remembering when filling in in the application
  6. in case you were wondering, this is what they look like
  7. You got bit by a bluebottle? I get bit daily by horseflies and mosquitoes but its only now and again that one goes wrong. It's mad when you've got a bite on one side of your arm swollen like mad but the itch is on the other side? Know what you mean, some days I look like a blind heroin addict with all the bleeding lumps on my arms and neck
  8. Take brewers yeast tablets, full of vitamin B. Or marmite sarnies. keep the horseflies at bay, but won't stop you falling out of trees!
  9. Interesting slant on it. I think it maybe that he is very reliant on the other dogs in the pack. Both are very busy with excellent noses and he likes to hang around the fringes watching whats going on to pick up any offerings. On his own he just seems to be that bit more laid back and looks to me for assurance, rarely working 50 yards without looking for a check back from me. If he picks up on a line of scent he still looks for confirmation from me, unless that scent is very strong and game is afoot. I dont find it a problem as part of the bigger picture, as it can be a blessing at times given
  10. Spent a lot of time training the dogs. One of which I was hoping would make a good mooching type. However, when he is working alone with me and no other dogs he is not that sharp. He is a pleasure to take out when you just want a quiet amble, or have a very specific job to do Just doesn't think for himself that much. As such I have started to train him to take direction as would do a retrieving gundog. He has been taking hand and whistle signals well enough to allow me to direct him onto an unseen target. A bit like the golden shot! Took him and the little tyke cross out this morning to s
  11. Looks like you all had a grand day out. He a handy size for bushing too
  12. Fair do. But "animal loving" and hunting are not mutually exclusive pastimes

    wellies!!

Hunter soles wear out too quick, just like muck boots. Unless you can find a pair of royal sovereigns with the replaceable sole. John Norris of Penrith sometimes do slight seconds for a more sensible price. Aigle and Le Chameau are on a par and probably the best out there. Aidle get my vote for my short stumpy legs. If you are bothered about punctures then get a pair of gortex lined leather wellies. I won a pair of Dubarry Wexfords in a clay shoot 2 years ago. Never leaked not too hot in summer, great in cold weather with a pair of thick sock (wore them in norway in january at -35).
  15. You may have unwanted visitors under the floor. If he is doing this as a "nesting" process, I would crate him. Oh and exercise him till he knackered! that and a belly full of grub should see him sleep soundly. And he will thank you for it
  16. They should make the Jeremy Kyle studio air tight, then gas the lot of the scroats
  17. always lamp alone these days. Saves on getting egged on to do silly macho crap and no-one can see how crap my dogs are.
  18. genetics don't always work that way. I would look for a similar bred dog that has some of the traits you think are missing from the mix of your current dog. Good luck
  19. 3 dogs, 4 horses, 4 pigs, 25ish sheep, 2 rabbits, 15 chickens, 6 duck and 6 koi carp
  20. Great coat clothing, highly waterproof and I have worn mine in all weathers. the downside is they absorb gallons of water in the outer fleece and get very heavy and take ages to dry.
