  1. Hi all was reading today an article in countrymans weekly about size matters in Whippets, that the larger they become they loose there ability to turn as sharp as a smaller more compact whippet, with the trend at the moment I have noticed some really large whippets appearing at some country shows and racing meetings, up to 24"tts I've seen, is the whippet losing its fit for purpose status and with the hunting laws as they are is size that important now. Just thought it would be interesting to hear the views of the hunting fraternities on the size matters subject. Just to add my view I prefer
  2. Depends on what the dogs were crossed with what the quarry was how big the field is and the ground the question can be interpretated 30 different ways so is unanswerable, but will make 3-4 pages where people give there views. ATB Bryan m
  3. Sorry mate too far away to have a look at yer cold room for ya, good luck in 2013 fella. Bryan
  4. Sorry posted a vid on ere and it showed everything in photobucket lol.
  5. Also on the same track two young (18mth) racing bred greys did 250mts in 15secs which most was a bend and that's 37.2mph and my whip did same dist in 17.5secs which is 31.9mph these dogs are running on sand so the ground they are running on will affect the speed the dog can run, size and stamina, live quarry all will play a part, which means it would be very difficult to say which breed or dog was faster unless you run them together on same ground on same set of circumstances, even then you may have a working dog that would go faster on live quarry, jmo.
  6. Realistically I expect she would get around 33 - 35mph as she's only 18"tts some of the bigger dogs will be a lot quicker
  7. My whip round a track does 460mts in 34 seconds which works out at just over 30mph but that includes 3 bends so might be only a little bit quicker in a straight line not that she backs off much around a bend.
  8. What about push the Hoover round quick, load the washing machine, pick up ready meals, send misses to work and have all day out with the dogs simples.lol
  9. I thought it was a birth mark on me arse, turns out it was a cigar burn, how's about that then guys an gals.
  10. Strange in the opening plays of the match they kicked for position instead of taking the points
  11. Seriously though black &tan you have to call it Guinness.
  12. Poor decisions by England, fluke try by SA but they looked stronger first half then was all England latter part of second half, it pains me to watch sometimes, looking forward to see how the welsh do
  13. The Welsh rugby team took a 2 hour break from training today just to sign some autographs for a minibus full of young afghan orphans who were visiting the Cardiff millennium stadium "it was so heartbreaking to see all their pathetic little faces with absolutely no f*****g hope" said Abdul, aged 6, Bryan.
  14. There's also a working whippet forum and Facebook page you can ask advice on there, I have a small whip bitch for ferreting, she also lure courses and races, fantastic little dogs mate, just be carefull when buying have a look at parents, workers, ect ect. Hope to see you posting soon. ATB. Bryan
  15. The thread was rapidly becoming a bitch fight about if you work your dog properly it SHOULD be marked up, because whips haven't got the right coat / thin skin to take the knocks required for a working dog. Not my thoughts by the way as my whip does get marked up as she's a nut job behind something, but she heals and not lasting marks are visible after time. Bryan.
  16. sorry Matty that car isnt fast enough try this one lol http://youtu.be/ZYAFoso0CLk
  17. Sorry Charts too far away but out of interest what sort of times and over what distances, my ped whip on the track does 250 mts in 17.6 sec and 460 mts in 34.9 sec, whilst at the track a guy was trailing two young 18 mth greys from Ireland and they where doing 250 mts in15.0 secs, how do the non peds fair. Just curious Bryan.
  18. Fella can ride a bike an all
  19. Yes Im doing a few fields for him at the moment which last year were quite productive, but to get a shot a the best bits I have to do the shit bits to keep them clear, he's a very hands on gamekeeper, but as they say its not a job but a way of life, and he lives it 24/7.
  20. Would the rats keep the rabbits away, as they were in the warrens
  21. My Whipp has never worked to rat before she got two and I lifted up me skirt and ran cant stand the things, she got them clean with no marks on her, may suggest he gets some terriers there with a smoker he must be loosing a lot of grain to them, you can see the runs from the holes to the feeders.
